I saw that Jacula review yesterday, good work Micky...and Mandy too
![]() I'm surprised at how modest you were - only 3 stars. I think that first album in a way kick-started the RPI movement, being from 1969. I would have boosted it to 4 or at least 3.5 and rounded up...but it is cool that you don't dole out 5 stars to everything you like; if I ever start reviewing

I like it too... shows what I think of it.. and where I think it fits in the 'pantheon of prog' or how is might be of interest to the average prog listener. That being the important one... that is the rating I give for the site. I kept it to 3 because of the limiited appeal and sonic lack of diversity.. it is GREAT at what it does.. but it doesn't do a 'lot'. Love the album. .but not everyone will.... |

I'm curious...will I be able to find a copy of Enzo Capuano Storia Mai Scritta?
As some reviewers point out he van be grouped within Alan Sorrenti and Claudio Rocchi (former member of Stormy Six then a solo artist) for similar taste for mixing folk, avantguard and RPI. Enzo Capuano is the less known of the three.
Claudio Rocchi has to be included. Unfortunately I only own his Volo Magico n. 2 and not the debut Volo Magico n. 1. N. 2 is less prog and, honestly tends more toward loveandpeace folk. Some interesting moments, though.

Sure they should, Micky. Extraxt from the Bible italianprog.it:
CLAUDIO ROCCHI
Claudio Rocchi was the original bass guitarist of Stormy Six, and played on their first album Le idee di oggi per la musica di domani, leaving the band soon after the album release for a solo career that started in 1970 with the first album, Viaggio, mainly acoustic and with good flute playing by PFM's Mauro Pagani. Always influenced by eastern doctrines (he later became a Hare Krishna), he was also active in anti-war movements and always present at the various italian pop festivals of the early 70's. Next album, La norma del cielo (subtitled Volo Magico n.2) was similar, but weakest in comparison, and after a long journey to India he released Essenza at the end of 1973, with help from Elio D'Anna (Osanna) and Mino De Martino (Giganti) among others. Il miele dei pianeti, le isole, le api was a six-track album mainly based as usual on Rocchi's acoustic guitar folk-psych compositions, but featured well-known guests such as Walter Maioli (from Aktuala), Trilok Gurtu (that played with the same band at that time) and violinist/multi instrumentalist Lucio Fabbri (from Piazza delle Erbe, then a long time Eugenio Finardi collaborator and from 1978 with PFM, he also released a solo album on Cramps). ![]() ![]() ENZO CAPUANO
A little known album, Storia mai scritta is definitely a much more progressive album than the works of similar singer-songwriters like the expensive Affresco by Franco Maria Giannini or Antico teatro da camera by Gianni D'Errico. A singer-songwriter from Calabria, but raised in Bologna, Capuano released this, his debut album, for the just born small independent Divergo label, and it is a surprisingly good album. Helping Enzo Capuano, on vocals, acoustic and classical guitar, synth, are keyboardist Mario Panseri (with which Capuano had collaborated in his Adolescenza album on RCA from 1973) and drummer Giovanni D'Aquila, while the bass parts are obtained with the synthesizer. After this LP, Capuano dedicated to composition of movies and cartoon soundtracks and to his singing studies, graduating at the Milan Academy of Music. Since 1989 he is a professional opera singer (vocal range: bass). ![]() |

Re Claudio Rocchi: I wanted to get "Volo magico n.1" the other day at BTF, but they didn't have it (there were other albums of his though). If my memory serves me right, though, his records are not that hard to find in mainstream music stores such as Ricordi. I'll have a look when I go to town tomorrow.

Mick, Andrea, there is one band I think we're missing out on here. Have you guys heard "Alder" by L'Estate de San Martino? Great Italian album from around 1983, now they have a new one too. They have escaped our radar. Link to info: http://www.italianprog.com/a_estate.htm Ever heard of them? |

As far as I can remember, L'Estate have already been suggested several times, but I am afraid they never got around to being added. Anyway, I think the album can be found in places like BTF (I am sure I've seen it there on some of my visits).
