At the end of the day I often end up following neither, thereby failing to achieve anything.

My head says to follow my heart but I refuse.

I'm REALLY GOOD at failing to achieve anything.  So maybe my problem is that I don't follow my head or my heart?

Being raised in a military family and being in the Army as long as I was I was taught never to think with your heart, because emotion can cloud your judgement(and get you killed). So I always think with my head, its worked for me so far.

A mix of both, but understanding emotions and how they interact with reason is key.

Well this is Progarchives, so wouldn't it be reasonable to assume we all follow the head here? Okay maybe 10 per cent of the heart at most............

I agree with that, too, although I personally lean a little bit towards the heart side of it.

If you mean logic over emotions, I'll say logic.

But intuition plays a big part as well - I don't think that's either head or heart.

Right. Do you SERIOUSLY believe that listening to prog makes you any smarter than 'dem pimps and hoes that listen to rap or the twee 'lil britpoppers? For real? Hopefully, i misinterpreted your post, but even so, i know that many people really do believe that. But i guess that's okay. After all, it's kind of an automatically self-destructing notion any way.

Anyway, i think i ususally tend to follow my heart. Hasn't always worked in my favour, but i have a lot more fun that way.

With age, I've learnt to follow my head more than I did in the past. However, still to this day I tend to follow my heart, and at least on one occasion it hasn't let me downHeart.

The two remind me of the scene from "Night of the Hunter", where Robert Mitchum has his hands, on the fingers of which the words "Love" and "Hate" are tattooed, fight against each other, only there is no clear winner for me. Sometimes it is the head, sometimes the heart. I like it best when they both agree for a change.
