I remember when a friend of mine thought that prog metal is a fusion between heavy metal + european classical music. He had no clue about 70's prog rock. It was a stressful period... But luckily, everything went good; now he listens to Frank Zappa. Smile

I told my friend I listen to progressive music, and once, he took my heaphones while I was listening to Koenjihyakkei (and of course, it made no sense to his ears), so now his idea of prog is of music that is random, frantic, atonal, and unstructured. LOL

Magma
Banco del Mutuo Soccorso
Hatfield and the North
Henry Cow
Jethro Tull
ELP

etc.

Porcupine Tree IS good, Ian.

My friend called Soft Machine's Fourth 'random noise'. I laughed and said, 'no, that was their previous album.'
