We had something like this called the Prog Olympics a while ago. I'm really glad that someone has brought it back. Anyway, I vote Yes.

Yeah, I think some of these will be very straightforward. Once we get into certain matches, especially after the first round, I think it'll make things much more interesting, but still you never know what can happen at times. Both bands are great though, but I agree.

Alright, I figured I'd explain this event in the initial post. I'm having a tournament with some friends of mine who aren't on PA (one is though, he'll post some of the polls too--his PA name is birdwithteeth11) and I made a March Madness-esque bracket to go along with the tournament. All of my friends and I have chosen who we think will win out of the matches and the plan was to have the results determined by polls here on PA. I thought it might be really interesting and I tried to rank the chances of bands winning in their respective four divisions.
Just in case people are curious, here's how it looks for the first round: Round 1
A1. #1 Genesis v. #8 Mike Oldfield
A2. #3 Dream Theater v. #6 Tangerine Dream
A3. #4 Camel v. #5 Magma
A4. #2 Emerson, Lake, and Palmer v. #7 Premiata Forneria Marconi
B1. #1 Yes v. #8 Supertramp
B2. #3 Gentle Giant v. #6 Pain of Salvation
B3. #4 Marillion v. #5 Gong
B4. #2 Rush v. #7 The Flower Kings
C1. #1 King Crimson v. #8 Anglagard
C2. #3 Van Der Graaf Generator v. #6 Captain Beefheart
C3. #4 Kansas v. #5 Mahavishnu Orchestra
C4. #2 Jethro Tull v. #7 Gryphon
D1. #1 Pink Floyd v. #8 IQ
D2. #3 Porcupine Tree v. #6 Caravan
D3. #4 The Moody Blues v. #5 Opeth
D4. #2 Frank Zappa v. #7 Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso
So, pretty much, just pick whichever artist/band out of each two in the polls that you prefer! I really appreciate your input in advance. (By the way, I'm not a new member, I've been on PA for years but I rarely posted with my old account. My tastes have changed alot too and I plan on reviewing more so now.)
