I'm going to have to say "The Musical Box" for now. Great opener on "Nursery Cryme" plus it's the band marching into their golden era in full-force.

At the present moment: Koenjihyakkei - Rattims Friezz - one of the most perfect songs ever recorded

Others that equal: VdGG - Still Life, Refugees, A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers, Pilgrims, almost everything, in fact

Robert Wyatt - every single track on Rock Bottom, but especially the two Little Reds.

I'm going with you, I saw that song live and it's never been the same (it was amazing even before I saw it live)

I have recently come to the decision that "Thick as a Brick" is the greatest song ever. All...eighty five years of it. As you can see, Wikipedia agrees with me.

A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers is perfect. Wink
Pilgrims is perfect. Wink
The Sleepwalkers is perfect. Wink
A Louse is Not a Home (Peter Hammill) is perfect. Wink
Theusz Hamtaahk (the live version from Retrospektiw I-II) is perfect. Wink

There are a lot of songs I like very much, so it is a pretty tough choice for me. "Wassilissa" by Mother Gong from their album "Fairy Tales" perhaps. "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" by VdGG would be a good candidate too. Or Magma's "Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandöh" or "Köhntark". When I am in a certain mood, "Jenseits" by Ash Ra Tempel, "Epsilon in Malaysian Pale" by Edgar Froese or "Velvet Voyage" by Klaus Schulze are good choices too. Let's not forget the fantastic "Master Builder" by Gong. I could go on and on...

Sorry to be so devastatingly predictable, but my favourite band by a long shot is Led Zeppelin and yes, I think their best song is Stairway... and it's kind of prog too.

And a few responses to the choices of others:

Supper's Ready - seems to be a popular choice, but I don't think it's quite "focused" enough to be me favourite prog song (it's 23 minutes long I think, so that's a good enough excuse for me)
The Musical Box - someone said they preferred the Genesis Live version.... they're right.
Dancing With The Moonlit Knight - as good or better than the above two.
Master Builder - damn stright
Jenseits by Ash Ra Tempel - I'm more of a Freak 'n' Roll man myself
Close To The Edge - might just be the best prog song ever, actually.

That's a good one ! It bugs me that we can't review one of the best albums ever: Love over gold.
Telegraph road is pretty progressive by the way. But what can we do about it ?
(Maybe propose DS as prog related ?)
A day without prog is a wasted day

It changes for me all the time, but lately I've been loving "The Moor" by Opeth.

I have to agree with this. I recently go to the place where I positioned Yes as my lifetime favourite.
