Great Band,

I love 3rd Stage

"We're Ready" is one of my favorite songs ever

Also my other favorite Boston songs include:

"Cool the engines", "Magdalene", "I need your Love", "Surrender", and "HollyAnn"

"Foreplay" is my favorite thing by them. Big organ instrumental thing, but then when it segues into the main song I was disappointed. But then, I really didn't listen very hard. My dad has some of their albums, but I haven't really tried em out yet.

I'll admit that I'm no expert on them, but they are OK. They do suffer from "everything-sounds-the-same-itis", or at least their many hits do. As far as American quasi-prog bands go, I'll take Kansas, and even Styx , anyday.

I love their first album - it kinda borders on prog, but it's more heavily rooted in hard rock. The second album is a bit too much "more of the same" - but still great rock music (for those who can't tell the bleedin' difference between rock and pop, rock rocks and pop doesn't).

NOT PROG but still pretty good, the first one especially.  The guitar work all sounds the same though - a very trademark Boston sound.

Surprised no one has mentioned 'Walk On' either, the hammond playing on the 'Walk On Medley' is great!

Average band, IMO. I think some of thier stuff is good, but overall i just don't care for them.

boston is an excellent hard rock band

the guitarist worked for polaroid as an electrical engineer: he owns a MASTER degree in electrical engineering, at the famous and prestigious MIT!!!!!!!!

he is probably the most brilliant musician in the history of music, no doubt about it!

when you graduate at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology, you are considered among the top of the tops of engineers!

his guitar sound is irreprochable! he knows how to sound perfectly

Boston is a pretty cool band. Tom Scholz is an awesome guitarist. He's a perfectionist, so that's why a new Boston album only appeared like every 8 years.

Love Boston but never thought about them being prog. I love their first album the best.

More than a feeling is a great sentimental song and t reminds me of a high school girlfriend. We broke up and got back together several times and one particular time that we broke up, that song  intensified my young, broken heart. We got back together about 2 weeks later, but eventually went our separate ways. I really like Hitchin' a ride (or something like that) on that album.

I also like Boston's second a lot. As for the third I never really got into it.

Boston is a very good AOR band. I always liked them. I was into hard rock/classic rock before I became heavily involved with Progressive rock and Boston was always one of my favorites along with Styx, Kansas, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. If you never liked hard rock/AOR you won't like Boston but for their genre it's great stuff. I doubt many people under 20 at this site will like them much though

Well, I'm 17 and like Boston's first album a great deal; it's one of the best AOR albums ever made, and features one of the most underrated rock songs ever 'Peace Of Mind', which is a favourite of mine.

However, I feel, as Certif1ed said, their second album is a carbon copy of the first, and I found it disappointing. Due to this, I never bothered listening to their subsequent albums. However, their debut is a classic.
