I just received this e mail. Anyone know much about these musicians?

NEWS EXCLUSIVE

KARNATAKA ARE BACK!

New line up and new album THE GATHERING LIGHT in the making.

Karnataka are back with an exciting new line up:

Ian Jones - bass/acoustic guitars

Gonzalo Carrera - keyboards/vocals

Nick May - lead guitar/keyboards

Bob Dalton - drums/vocals

Alquimia - vocals/multi instrumentalist

A personal message from founder member, Ian Jones.

"Firstly, thank you for the huge amount of support over the last few months.

2004 saw the departure of various band members to persue other interests and projects including Jonathan's "Panic Room" and Anne's solo career. An era drew to a close.

A chance meeting with keyboard player Gonzalo Carrera, considered by many to be one of the finest keyboard players working in the UK today, culminated in a series of writing sessions in London and Swansea. Gonzalo will be known to many of you through his work with David O'List (The Nice), John Helliwell (Supertramp), Glen Cornick (Jethro Tull) and Landmarq.

Soon two became four - we were joined by drumming supremo Bob Dalton and virtuoso rock guitarist Nick May, both of whom need little introduction. Bob is well known as the drummer with It Bites and has recently toured with Kino. Nick was guitarist with The Enid and has worked with various other bands including Jadis. Nick has just released his debut solo album 'Whimwise' .

Four became five when we were introduced to the wonderful Mexican born vocalist, composer and synthesist Alquimia. Drawing on Aztec, Celtic and world music influences and singing in various languages such as Spanish, English, French and her native idiom Nahuatl, Alquimia has released several albums and collaborated and performed with many other artists such as Michael Nyman, Jah Wobble and Hans Joachim Roedelius.

There has been an incredible synergy within the band allowing us to create exciting new music which is simply 'classic Karnataka'.

A new era has begun!"

"We step out of the shadows into the gathering light........"

They played with Embryo and with the Dissidenten. If you like Indian percussion there are none better.

Oh, sorry, I mistook them for "Karnataka College of Percussion", but yours seems to be a completely different band. The might get trouble with the name "Karnataka".

Alquimia is a woman, and a beautiful one:

Well, i always loved rachel jones and the other female flautist' work, but i think alquimia should add a very pleasant Latin contribution to the karnataka sound. i'm dying to hear her voice too!

this is great news, although rachel did not come back anymore!
