I hate to be cliche...but FoaBP. It was just that good, but so many great albums came out.

I still don't see how so many people think that Fear of a Blank Planet is so noteworthy. It's not that good. Between the Buried and Me wrote and played circles around them with their release, and so did a handful of other bands. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good album, but it's far overrated.

Personally I don't see the attraction of PT. Sure they are good musicians and the albums are enjoyable, but they don't rank up there with the best for me. My best release of 2007 is not on the list: Phideaux: Doomsday Afternoon.

EDIT: from your list, I voted for Sola Scriptura...

And that's the problem, cause there's terrific not talked about prog bands like Senogul, Rational Diet, Grayceon, Obscura, Oaksenham, Phideaux, Pax Cecilia, La Pura Realided and many more.

Well, I think foabp/nr is a great album, porcupie tree always surprises me, and this is one of their masterpieces, well, if you don´t like a lot the album it´s ok, it´s your opinion.

by the way, where the hell that bands came form ? I never heard about 'em before

The Watch's Primitive? Why is this gem of classic prog so buried and / or deried by this community? It fits alongside 'Foxtrot' and 'In the Court of the Crimson King' better than any release of 2007. What exactly are you looking for if not unapologetically vintage progressive rock, executed with intense soulful emotion and endearing vivid colorful compositions? I'm 24 years old but I'm sorry, the 'modern' prog sound just equates to "lamenting drone."

Funny enough, my pick is among your options. BTBAM's Colors has really made my year. It's superb mix of genres, precision and epic-ness never ceases to amaze me.
