Lemmy. Not the greatest bass virtuoso in the world but I love his playing in Hawkwind - it couldn't be better for that style of music, it locks in with the drums and propels the music into space.
Oh, and has anybody mentioned Hugh Hopper yet?

Here goes nothing:
1) Chris Squire
2) Geddy Lee
3) Jaco Pastorius
4) John Wetton
5) Roger Glover (Deep Purple)
6) Greg Lake
7) John Myung
8) Jeffrey Hammond (Jethro Tull)
9) Jack Bruce
10) John Paul Jones
11) John Deacon
12) Dave Hope (Kansas)
13) Tony Levin
14) Geezer Butler
15) John Entwhistle (Although I don't own an album of The Who)
I could go on. The numbers don't truly mean anything.
