Oh man I just realized there's a pattern.  Ten points to whoever figures it out!

They're not from around here, are they boy? LOL

The pattern is of course they all played for Magma.
As usual some of the best bass players have been overlooked. Where are the Kraut experts? Germany has some excellent bass players too! I will just mention Helmut Hattler, Peter Kühmstedt and Gerald Luciano Hartwig. Interestingly all of them played for Guru Guru for some time (Kühmstedt is the current bass player again; he had been a member in the 70s already), But then a top drummer (Guru Guru drummer Mani Neumeier is 3rd on my list of favourite drummers) attracts top bass players.

This is a freeform LIST thread for favourite bassists in the prog world. I feel they're kinda left in the dark as far as musicianship goes; it's always guitars, keys and drummers...

so please honour the skilful art by listing your favourites here

1. Chris Squire
2. Jonas Reingold
3. Geddy Lee
4. Tony Levin
5. Victor Wooten (although he ain't prog, i had to mention him. he's incredible!)
