I'd buy a team of 18-wheelers and run straight for the distributers of Wayside Music and Laser's Edge....and stop by Grand Fork, Utah for a raid of Greg Walker's inventory.

Ok, you just won the 100 million dollar lotto and can do anything you want with the money.... as long as it is spent on prog related issues!! What would you do? Here is what I'd do:

1. I would pretty much own Keith Emerson and pay him an incredible sum to find a phenomenal young vocalist and a Terry Bozzio type drummer to put together the ultimate Keyboard prog CD with NO commercial considerations whatsoever. I would also want a Hammond B-3 organ trio formed by him as well. And also commission him to write music for piano and string quartet. 1 CD per year. In return he would become a very rich man by doing my bidding. Ha ha!

2. I would make Robert fripp, John Wetton and Bill Bruford an offer they couldnt refuse to go in to the studio to create "Red 2"

3. I would pay Peter Gabriel and Genesis to reform and perform "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" every night until I said so. ha ha!

4. I would pay all of the members of Asia to simply STOP playing and break up for good.

5. I'd pay Dave Stewart to reform Egg.

6. I'd Get Patrick Moraz back in to Yes and commisson them to do "Relayer 2"

7. I'd find Geoff Downes a good piano teacher since I know he's always wanted to be a keyboard player.

8. I'd commision Tony Banks to form his own 3 piece band. I always thought that would be interesting.

9. I'd pay Rick Wakeman a huge sum to come out publicly and state to his many fans that although he appreciates the fact that they think he is THEE keyboard god....Keith Emerson blows him away in every aspect.

Well, at least it wasn't an ELP thread!!!

I think you should dump it all into number 4, just to be sure (though just playing together as Asia, I don't want Steve Howe to retire....ever).

I'd most of it on vintage gear of every type, recordng equipment, vintage synths, '59 Les Paul, Rick bass, among other things. Then I would put out an album. I would find people locally to play with, I'm a big believer that being in the right place at the right time has a lot to do with fame so I wouldn't worry about big names. My buddy John would do the cover and some singing and maybe some guitar too. With what was left I would pay Roger Dean to paint murals on the walls all over my house.

I think if you asked him nicely, and for the right price, he would design and build your house.
What?

Unfortunately, I doubt any amount of money would make Peter agree to this. Damn solo careers. Although I'd also pay to see that happen. LOL

1. I would buy all the prog albums I want
2. I would pay Porcupine Tree to come here to Michigan!
3. I would fund an anime based on Yes. Manga artist U-Jin and novelist Shouji Gatoh would help out. Stern%20SmileStern%20SmileStern%20Smile
4. ELP, get your coats on, you're coming to THE PALACE OF AUBURN HILLS!!! (I would pay ELP to reunite...)

Yep!

In addition, I would arrange a RIO/Avant/Zeuhl festival and try to include all bands I wanted.

Can you hire somewhere else? I saw the Chili Peppers there and thought it was a horrible place for a gig.

I'd use the money to provide bursaries for struggling prog musicians (myself included).

All 4 of these work quite well for me.  My nephew was born on the day Porcupine Tree was here in May.  I had only considered going at that point since I hadn't heard about the show until a couple of days before (not sure if any tickets were even available) but when my nephew was born that meant I had other plans and the PT show was a no go.

Haha, PT played in Philly last year on my wedding anniversary...didn't have the balls to catch that show.  Wink  But then I did get to see them a little bit later on the Blank Planet tour, so all is well.

YES, especially to the vintage gear and Roger Dean. I'm already trying that whole band thing though.
