In approximate order:
1. Genesis--Supper's Ready. Everything about it is beautiful! The finale gives me goosebumps every single time!
2. Magma--De Futura. Absolutely incredible, 18 minutes of Janik Top's best bass work, topped with Christian Vander's impecable drumming, odd time-signature melodies, primodial grunts, and strange noises from minimoogs.
3. VdGG--A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers. Features some of Robert Fripp's best guitar work. I love how the finale is the only happy part of the song, as the narrator has finally gone so insane that he has invented an imaginary friend to keep him company.
4. Nektar--Remember the Future. What are they talking about? Who cares! Very melodic, very upbeat, a lot of fun.
5. Jethro Tull--A Passion Play. Tull's best work, it features the best writing and performance the band ever put together. Beautiful melodies throughout, with wisecracks left and right.

1. Supper's Ready-Genesis: The Peter Gabriel line up of Genesis is my favourite band at this point. Supper's Ready is amazing. Image invoking lyrics, excellent music, whats not to love?
2. A Change of Seasons- Dream Theater: DT is one of my favourite bands, and this epic is excellent. It is really just a brilliant song...not much else to say.
3. 2112-Rush: My first epic, infact Rush was my first prog band, I just did not realize it at the time. I have a lot of memories with this song.
4. Duel With Devil- Transatlantic: I love this band, and the Live in Europe version of this song is great.
5. Close to the Edge- Yes: I got into Yes via this song. Good song good bass part from Squire. all around great.

1. Echoes (Pink Floyd) - my nr.1 song, my heart's song, scenes from a memory everywhere... 2. Octavarium (Dream Theater) - a perfect ambiental start by Rudess, the usage of continuum, brilliant guitar parts by Petrucci, DT signature oddnes, perfect ending... 3. A Change of Seasons - the epic that made me love prog 4. Tarkus (ELP) - just love it! 5. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

2. The Red album by KC. Simply astounding. Especially Starless.
3. "Shine On" by Pink Floyd. Need I say anything more?
4. "Doctor Jimmy" by The Who is one of my most enduring favorites from Quadrophenia.
5. "Tarkus" by ELP. The greatest keyboard work ever. Really.

1) Telegraph Road by Dire Straits. Chilling opening, brilliant guitar and piano, perfect climax, and they arn't even considered as prog
2) Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd. Some of the most amazing emotional guitar and spacy keys ever recorded, it builds up so well, it made me cry the first time I heard it (pathetic, I know)
3) Reflection by Tool. So spacy, it feels like drifting, when I first heard this it was like nothing I had ever experianced.
4) The Pinnacle by Kansas. Gripped me right away and didn't let go the keyboard sounds so perfect on this song, especially when coupled with the violin.
5) The Dead Flag Blues by GYBE! Simply the greatest piece of music ever recorded. "the car is on fire and there is no driver at the wheel..."

I can't really think of 5 specifically, so I'll throw out ones at random
Genesis- Supper's Ready- P Gaebz at his best as well as the rest of the crew
The Mars Volta-Cassandra Gemini- epic, and manages to not change key once over a half hour and remain interesting
Genesis- The Musical Box- IMO their best song
Genesis- Dancing With the Moonlight Night- dammit this is going to turn into Genesis worship fest
Genesis- The Cinema Show- yep
Van der Graaf Generator- A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers- embodies a feeling of pure darkness
Close to the Edge- Yes
The Gates of Delirium- Yes

A top 5 is not enough, these are my favorites
King Crimson - Starless (a perfect song, to my ears)
Yes - Gates of Delirium (my fav Yes song ever, i know, without Wakeman)
Pink Floyd - Dogs (Echoes and SOYCD are also superb epics, right now Dogs is my favorite, great guitars)
Banco - Il Giardino del Mago (awesome song, everything is excellent)
Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn Pt. 1 (beautiful piece by a superb musician)
Osanna - Oro Caldo (easily one of the best songs by an Italian band)
Renaissance - Ashes are Burning (beautiful, the live version from the Carnegie Hall is outstanding)
The Doors - When the Music`s Over (pure bliss, superb)
Mostly Autumn - Heroes Never Die (a song that i really love)
Anekdoten - Hole (that Mellotron!)

Well, this is an epic, that's really epic. It's also epic and well

1.The Great Nothing - Spock's Beard (fantastic keyboards)
2. Tetragrammaton - The Mars Volta (great riff)
3. Driver's Seat - The Flower Kings (i dunno why, it's just a great song)
4. A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers - VDGG (incredible vocals from Hamill throughout)
5. Journey to the Centre of the Earth - Rick Wakeman (it's the closest thing in prog (imo) to what i love: classical music)
(if there were a sixth, i'd put TaaB - Jethro Tull)

Camel- Music Inspired by the Snow Goose. This is the single most cohesive piece of progressive rock material in the entire literature. Period.
Yes- Close to the Edge. Tremendous concept, brilliantly played and sung.
King Crimson- Talking Drum/Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part Two. Awesome instrumental work by the most forward thinking progressive rock band of all time.
Pink Floyd- Echoes. Tremendous piece of atmospheric music, built around one overamplified piano note. Transcendant music that takes you on a sonic journey to some far away place.
Emerson, Lake and Palmer- Tarkus. ELP at its best. Powerful vocals by Lake, superb keyboard play by Emerson and drumming by Palmer. ELP at its best.
I could add a bunch more as honorable mention, but will offer just a few:
King Crimson- Lizard. Acquired taste, loaded with heavy free jazz, it is a brilliant display of musicianship, very intense listening due to the multi-layered sound, but well worth the effort.
Pink Floyd- Dogs. Great Gilmour guitar throughout, brilliant and incisive lyrics by Roger Waters. Floyd at their best.
Caravan- Nine Feet Underground. Great early progressive epic with some vestiges of psychedelia, it is finely sung and played, simply addictive, and, when I put it on, it gets a bunch of replays for about a week.

To avoid having three songs from Tales From Topographic Oceans in my Top 5, I'll count that one as one huge epic.
1. Tales From Topographic Oceans- Yes- Most epic works of music ever IMO.
2. 2112- Rush- All around great song. Great concept; my favorite Rush track.
3. Close to the Edge- Yes- This is the song that got me hooked on prog. Had to be included here.
4. Anesthesize- Porcupine Tree- I was surprised at the lack of attention for this great song. It may not even be a year old, which is infantile by prog standards, but I thought that this track had to be recognized. Incredible drums.
5. Echoes- Pink Floyd- And of course. This song is king of psychadelic journeys. The guitarwork in this song takes me to magical places.
Honorable mentions in no real order (too hard to choose only five  ): Journey to the Center of the Earth- Rick Wakeman (forgotten classic)

Rubycon- Tangerine Dream
Phaedra- Tangerine Dream (I thought TD wasn't getting enough recognition on this thread)
