Languages change. Some people will be crabby about it and sit with arms crossed and say "Hrmph!" Oh well.

Sometimes I think that if I had a row of emoticon badges on my lapel that I could point to as I spoke. It would be quite useful for me as I all too often deliver humorous remarks in dead-pan, which is okay most of the time, but has caused the occasional misunderstanding in the past. (They didn't take to kindly to it inTexas )

Slowly seething re this post, old chap:
It is not only annoying but a debasement of our beautiful language; if one cannot express oneself adequately without the use of youthful acronyms, one should stay away from the internet, invest in a good book and jolly well read. In this manner, you will increase your vocabulary and be better able to communicate effectively in writing without the use of such irritating abbreviations. Hmph... and indeed, Bah! |

totally agree wiv u Jim!
No, really! My son sent me a text yesterday to let me know he was on his way home from a club he goes to, I had to phone him for a translation!!!
Crazy, I don't understand it at all!
(please bear in mind he was bought up without TV or computer access until he was 10, even now I am fairly strict, and spent his childhood whooping my ass at scrabble!)
I do get annoyed when folk get angsty about typos though, there is a big difference between simple ERRORS and plain laziness....
yes Jim I know I should preview first

I completely understand the point and agree wholeheartedly (see last post) however, having just re-read some of this thread, I found myself thinking unprofessional ???
Pardon me sir, but I must inform you that my profession is not typing on a prog forum, so as such does that make me exempt from your ruling? Does that mean as an ammateur member of PA I am entitled to stuff up the english language as I see fit?
I need to know by the way, just who here in on the payroll?

I live in the South, and I'm getting real -ing tired of having to put up with all the pride associated with Civil War landmarks. How -ing stupid do you have to be to take pride in a war you didn't win? I doubt if I go to Germany they've converted the gas ovens into -ing rave clubs where the showers now emit foam. If I go to Hiroshima someone isn't gonna try to sell me a bottle of -ing "Nuclear Hot Sauce: Megatons of Flavor". You -ing lost, have some -ing shame. Another thing: anything that survived the Civil War was unimportant. General Sherman's March to the Sea left Georgia burning. If a building remained unscathed it means that Sherman, the Erik the Red of American history, didn't give enough of a to burning the -ing thing down. Shut up and get thee to the nearest Wal-Mart and buy a gun to kill some deer.
That's another thing, why would a store that makes me want to kill myself have the audacity to sell -ing firearms? That's a smart idea: making guns readily available near my college campus, especially around exam time. Is the clocktower included in my purchase, or does that come separately? And you can never get around the place because everyone trudges through the store with that empty look -ing Vietnam vets have as their five unwanted, tax-relief children fan out across the aisle behind them. -ing MOVE! Hmm...
The DVLA. I lost my driving license quite some time back and haven't gotten around to getting it replaced with one of those new fangled photo ID ones... anyhow, I looked on the DVLA website and it seems that the form of ID I need to prove I am who I say I am, is a passport. My passport expired last month and it takes ages to sort a passport out. I cannot really wait to get that sorted out. b*****ds! I need my driving license for something, how am I supposed to get the information? Edited by Geck0 - December 08 2007 at 17:36 |

This has to be a contender for 100% genuine rant of the year! Bloody well done Incidentally, the phrase "their five unwanted, tax-relief children fan out across the aisle behind them. -ing MOVE!" resonates deeply within my new-town dwelling soul! |

The evil me almost hopes they say you need a drivers license to get the passport. (Of course, this won't be the case) |

Why do we need change for change's sake. I can't find my way around the forum pages now. Came here for a relaxing few minutes and am getting frustrated. Did the appearance have to change with upgraded software??? Edited by Heavyfreight - December 31 2007 at 16:26 |

Got a row about this before....so hopefully it's in the right place now. The creepy brown nosing creep, who apparently maquerades as the boss of progrock records, snitching on people....i hate crawlers and point scorers.
Women drivers.........Americanisms creeping into the real English language (except those from south of Watford)
Not being allowed to speak your mind, regardless.
Having the worst most boring national anthem in the whole wide world....god save the quen/king depending on who is alive at the time. And, while we're at it, why do the royal family live so bloody long?
Last but not least.....religion and thier followers.........
And so the rant endeth.....ohh.......finally people, or there friends, who think they deserve respect.

It's basically 2 in the morning and I can't get to sleep. I was tired before I went to bed but made the mistake of not letting the song I was listening to finish and it was on my mind for the next ing hour and so I decided to play it so maybe I can get some sleep. It was so ing good that I had to play the rest of the album.
When I try to go to sleep after the album finishes I find I can't. Some weird feeling has taken over and I have the weirdest notion that I left something unfinished. It takes me another ing hour to realize that my blood sugar is low and that my diabetes needs taken care of. Now that I'm feeling tired I now have to go down to the ing kitchen and get some food together. And I think I left the ing light on. I checked, and find that I didn't. And now I have a slight chance of only getting 6 hours of sleep. And I need every second of it because for some reason I haven't been able to sleep much these past few days and the weekend was my chance to catch up and not be so grumpy. Looks like that failed. Miserably. |
