I've been very familiar with Genesis since the seventies actually Erik and agree that it's some of the best Prog ever. I was just saying that at the time it was easy to take music of that quality for granted as it was a golden age for Prog and there was such a lot of great stuff about. As much as I enjoy many of todays bands few hit the spot like Genesis did between 7o - 77.

OK Paul, I understand and I agree, The Seventies were the Golden Age but I am also pleased with the possiblities that the Internet deliver, perhaps most recent bands are not on the level of the Classic Prog but many have adventurous ideas like William Gray, Nemo and Senogul |

I am pleased to report that Metaphor have moved past their NEO-PROG roots and have delivered a very symphonic progressive CD called "The Sparrow". Almost every song is filled with constant time changes and many different atmospheres and melodies. Counter-melodies abound. Hammond organ sounds filled with great guitar work similar to Hacket. Many songs have a Gentle Giant difficulty in the music. Very impressive. A must-listen CD from this modern prog band. Possibly their break-out work!

Best of 2006 that I've heard:
PFM-Stati Di Immaginazione Zenit-Surrender (Best "unknown" album) Oaksenham - Conquest of Pacific 2007: Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon La Torre Del Alchimista - Neo |

Hey, buddies, keep an eye in VIOLETA DE OUTONO - Volume 7 (2007 release).
Er... even being Brasilian I was never too much into this band but this review here made me think twice:

Yes Guigo, I read it too but my problem is that I get so many new progrock releases, it sounds a bit 'spoiled' but sometimes I miss good prog because I have to make choices in reading the homepage and choosing which new prog I want to listen to
![]() By the way, tomorrow the one-in-two-month Progwalhalla meeting is at my home, I hope to welcome fellow PA member Glass House, Antennas, Dirk and Angelo and to treat them on some exciting new progrock bands like the new Spanish progrock sensation Senogul

For Progwalhalla I have reviewed a Lazuli CD and DVD, this is wonderful progressive music with strong hints from the World Music sound of Peter Gabriel and I love their blend of ethnic - and modern electric/electronic instruments

I'm listening to the PA samples by Violeta De Outono, they sound good so far, quite floydian but enjoyable, the Portugese vocals give them a special flavour.

I just read this enthousiastic review about the overlooked
Chilean progrock band AngulArt:

![]() Tomorrow I hope to review and add the new album Breaking The Silence by Holding Pattern, my first listening session was a pleasant one, lots of excellent guitarwork and some flashy synthesizer solos.
Another interesting release is the live DVD Janos Varga Project Live, Janos Varga is the former guitarplayer of legendary Hungarian progrock band East, I hope to review this DVD tomorrow.

Too bad I had to miss the Progwalhalla evening last Friday. I'll make up for it next time, Erik, and have agreed with Hans to set up a diner meeting with you, him and Dirk in Amsterdam later this month (bier & sate, as he put it).
In the mean time, here's another new band being moved out of Unsigned and hopefully into the archives: Sunpath from Germany. One of independent and promising bands that benefit from our new guidelines on being considered a 'released' band. |

![]() Igor, by the way, today the postman intended to deliver your CD but I was at my work so I hope to pick it up on the post office this wednesday.
Wednesday I hope to have time to review the Janos Varga (ex East guitarplayer) Project Live DVD from Hungary and the new Holding Pattern album entitled Breaking The Silence from the USA.
