Yeah, the first disc is pretty brutal, technical and awesome.
The second disc is just epic and brilliant. There are too many perceivable influences to even begin to name.
As for Tusk, I haven't heard it but I've been looking for their album forever. Weren't they the band that preceded Pelican?

Tusk are basically Pelican minus one member,drummer Bryan Herweg.
Tusk's line-up is Trevor de Brauw,Larry Herweg,Laurent Lebec.I don't know who their drummer is or who does the vocal work,but they are a four piece.

Well, of those three, I like Mastodon a ton haven't heard too much of Gojira but they're allright meh @ Meshuggah and again, the vocals were a real deterrant |
