That's all, really.
Oh, I can translate four other, ancient, languages, at least when they are when written down: Latin, Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic , but that doesn't really count, does it ?
Languages I would like to learn: Italian (the most beautiful language in the world, even e pericoloso sporghersi is poetry in my ears), Spanish, and I even dream of speaking Chinese and Russian. Well, maybe, some day... |
Well, translation from Hebrew is not that difficult (personal experience), but Aramaic... incredible! |
Thanks! Actually, Aramaic, as a semitic language, is not that different from Hebrew. I learned biblical Aramaic and Palestinian Aramaic. If you can learn Hebrew, you can easily learn Aramaic as well.

Exactly, I have no doubts. The language I've learnt is the so called Modern Hebrew though, which differs, I believe, in that degree or another, from the Biblical Hebrew. The latter should be quite close to Aramaic.
Also, I wonder how many of today's Hebrew speakers are able to read the Bible easily (excluding, of course, the religious ones, who have to know it by the definition).
Anyway, I always had an admiration for the classical education (unfortunately, I didn't learn any of the classical languages) and for those who have notion of these languages, especially in our time, when even the live languages aren't considered important, let alone the dead ones.

Native English, modest German, beginner Italian, near-native Latin and decent Ancient Greek.
