LOL and I just saw them only as mislabeled as a prog group hahha

It's the last time I eat off that roadkill memorial tree.

Bondage Fruit, on the other hand, appeals much more... Whip it good.  But seriously, I think there's a decent case for PT in Crossover.

last I heard... Space Rock was at a loggerheads as to whether they wanted to give it up. If they do... it comes down to hard..errr.. heavy prog and Xover I guess.  Personally I think they fit heavy better. But that is to be discussed.. if we ever get them.

FINALLY!
I've been saying this for years (well.... with Art Rock before the genre ch...oh you get it)
Anyway, The Who. Never cared about them. They're ok but nothing I've felt that i needed to pursue

yes... the are being discussed where they are to go as we speak...  I have a couple of goons on-call to bust some kneecaps if necessary to see they get where they need to be LOL  Hopefully they will be moved ....soon.... Wink  Just need some votes and feedback from some members presently either sleeping...or not here...out actually having a life hahahah

exactly... not exactly the happy hippy drippy stuff that Yes fans know and love hahhaha.

yes is for sunny days walking through the park...

floyd is for smoking a j... flipping out at the stresses of life.. and chopping  Eugene into little pieces LOL

hmmm... I think that was towards me ^ ..

Genesis... good stuff... but it does bore me.. and for the reasons I expained earlier.. ...the reasons I love ELP and Yes Genesis is too cerebral.. too subtle for my tastes..  I like prog musicians who show what they can do.. not hiding behind their instruments.

Porcupine Tree... haven't decided if they were a good rip off of Floyd.. or a good quasi prog band.  I like them... really like them in general terms but don't see a great deal of prog there.. especially FOABP.

Floyd...  love it

hmm. Interesting.

As a casual non-voting observer opf this thread,  (yeah, I like Yes and own a lot of their albums, but don't think of myself as a fan per say), I'm suprised the Beatless are doing so badly as they are one of the few bands Yes covered, but I don't suppose too many Yesfans would like Simon and Garfunkel either.Wink

As a diehard Yes fan (my #1 band since 1972)I feel I should give my vote, and it's a toss-up between The Beatles and The Who... Voted for The Who since IMO they never made anything worthwile except for "Baba O'Riley", just plain rock&roll (hard rock if you want).

I simply can't believe that everyone loves Zeppelin so much that the only band faring better is King Crimson.  Wacko

And I'm shocked by the beating that The Who is taking, not to mention The Beatles and PT.  Cry
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Porcupine Tree, I have one of their albums and I don't like it much.

I was going to vote for The Who also, but I realized at the last minute that I hardly ever listened to Tull.

Like I said in the original post, these are the groups that last.fm users who identify themselves as Yes fans actually listen to the most.  They are listed in order, from #1 to the tie at #9 between The Who and King Crimson.

I cannot imagine anybody loving Yes and not at least liking Genesis or Pink Floyd (it happens....see the poll) That I cannot understand,  but to -less- like the Beatles and the Who is quite easy for me to understand... PT is a completely different ballgame, they are not related to the '70 music scene, and you just like them or not, since they are very different.

I guess Yes definitely knows how to translate other bands' songs well. Actually the other day I was listening to the Buffalo Springfield box set, and to my surprise, "Everydays" (recorded in '67) was on there! (And yes, that is the same song that Yes performed on "A Time And A Word.") Not many people seem to know that a Yes song was composed by Stephen Stills... I wonder what other American Folk(y)-Rock bands the members of Yes listened to...

(in advance - sorry for the tangential comment Smile)

easy..... I'm more surprised that anyone who would  pick Rush than Genesis or Floyd.  Yes has always been tagged as a 'musicians' group... a group that musicians ... players... can really dig. Much like Rush has been

Genesis .. and Floyd are much in the same vein...  where the sum far exceeds the value of the parts.
