Topic: A poll for Yesfans only. Posted: November 11 2007 at 14:07 |
I was looking through last.fm today and I ran across a list of other bands that people who listen to Yes also listen to. So I wondered which of these bands true Yes fans would be LEAST likely to listen to.
Jethro Tull gets my vote, although it was very hard to pass up the Who.

Led Zeppelin. I like a couple of their songs, their sort of folky stuff, like Battle of Evermore and Going to California, but otherwise not a big fan of the mighty Zep.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I love all of those bands, and I have CDs by all of them - though admittedly Genesis are my least favourite out of the above list.

As i said in other polls I can't stand Porcupine Tree, so the vote is for them.

Gensis.... and I don't like them.. for the reason I like Yes. and ELP and King Crimson...
unrestrained displays of instrumental virtutosity....
Genesis simply bores me... no matter how good.. in some subtle way they might be.
that is the group the Yes fan should be bored to tears with ahhahahhaha

I'd probably select Jethro Tull here, although I like all these bands. Can't remember the last time I've fired up a Jethro Tull CD, though.

Pink Floyd: Way too meandering and aimless for my taste.

Rush. They never appealed to me.
As for Genesis, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull (and even ELP's best albums): as a Yes fan, I've always found it natural to like them!
Led Zep, on the other hand, are a band I really only started to appreciate in the 1990s. Nowadays I'd be inclined to say they recorded even more great stuff than Yes. Still, even Led Zep can't hold a candle to the Who at their best...

Porc Tree - not only that I don't love them as I do with all the other bands (some of my favourites amongst them), but I don't even really like very much of their material.

I've been trying to get into Rush. I've bought a whole pile of LP's & CD's in an effort to take the leap; just none of it really reaches out and grabs me.
