True, except for the Emo bit. Those bands are not Emo.

Emo was an underground music style, existing from the mid 80's to approximately the mid 90's. It's dead now, and the bands being called Emo today are Alternative Rock and Pop-Punk bands, sometimes with a bit of Post-Hardcore or Metalcore thrown in.

Ok, then all the bands that PASS as Emo bands (like your FallOutBoys, etc)....Tongue

I thought like modern emo was the official term. I actually read a book about it because I used to be really big on emo (in the classic sense)

Well as these bands don't sound like Emo, I see no reason why they should be called that.

That's true, but that doesn't stop most people."Modern Emo" is too long.

Unfortunately. But I don't see why people can't call it Pop-Punk and Alternative Rock. Those to names are also long but since there are loads of other bands being called that, it can't be too hard to use them for a couple more..

Can't nostalgia contribute to quality?
