I might give Winamp a go seeing as I'm a member of emusic and you receive 50 free tracks to download if you download Winamp 5.5.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

In fact I had the 5.5 beta installed for about 2 months ... Tongue

I just noticed that there was no thread about it - and since it is such a fabulous player a bit more promotion cannot hurt.

BTW: Have you tried Milkdrop yet? *The* essential plugin.Big%20smile

Being fair to Winamp (except for it's visual design, which I find more or less kitsch), I must say that it does have many of the options which make my Foobar so great. But only if you pay for them... Wink

Milkdrop is a visualisation plugin. It comes with Winamp 5.5 ... from the winamp menu simply choose Visualisation -> Select Plugin, then select Milkdrop 2. You can configure the settings ... you should try to make sure that it runs full screen and that it uses a screen resolution that makes sense with your monitor (Usually you simply choose "Fake Fullscreen" so it uses your desktop resolution). Then all you do is to start the visualisation while some music is playing (ESC brings you back to the Desktop).

I have had 5.5. for about 2 weeks,I didn't know the upgrade was available a month ago.

I don't listen to music on my computer with anything other than Winamp,it's a great program.

^ Who needs a  media *player* for ripping CDs? I don't expect my ripping tool to have playback functionality either.

By all means continue using Foobar ... but in that case you'll never be able to use Milkdrop.

Probably those who the Pro version is addressing, as that's the only major difference from the free versions that I could spot...
Anyway, I'm doing nothing but rocking the boat here for some fun Smile, but, regarding what you said, I still think it's great to have all processes related to audio files centralized in one program. To each his own Smile

^ I still think that most people use specialized tools like CDex or EAC ... but like you said: to each his own. Still, you're missing out on Milkdrop.Embarrassed

Wow. I've tried that Milkdrop, it's pretty good, although I must say some of the graphics made me feel sick!
