Topic: Yes and friends Posted: October 24 2007 at 12:04 |
There are a few Friends and relatives type compilations in the Yes discography. I reckon these should be in the Various artists, Themed compilations section.
Do you agree?

Well I'll put my two cents in, although as weak as the dollar is right now, it's probably only worth about 1.2 cents today. I think it is better to leave them where they are as part of the Yes discography. I agree that they are not really Yes albums and technically they are better off in the various artists category. However, they are strongly related to Yes, and every record store I've ever been in has these in the Yes section. I think it makes more sense in terms of ease of use of the site to keep them where they are. Were I trying to track down reviews on one of the above-listed cds, I would automatically go the Yes band page to do so and wouldn't even think to check in the various artists category. If I didn't find it under Yes, I would probably just assume this site didn't have them listed at all. But maybe I'm just slow or lazy.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

^ Quite a reasonable point.
I don't know whether it is possible to have an album be placed twice -- in this case, both in Yes discography and in Various Artists. It might be a solution, maybe...

Speaking of Yes, I was out LP shopping today and a came upon an album called "Drama". Any good?

It's site policy to only list an album once.
I understand the point about finding the albums under Yes in shops. that of course is the point of the marketing of them, and the names they have been given. I do feel though that we are misleading people by listing them under Yes here.
One of the albums does not have anyhting by yes on it, one has a couple of token live tracks, and one has a handful of recent Yes tracks but is still predominantly not by Yes.
Further comments?
Re Drama, see the reviews on this site!!

As we did with other similar issues/albums:
I recommend to add a comment/hint about this to the band biography provided with a hyperlink to the album(s)
