Topic: Another F1 poll. Posted: October 21 2007 at 14:32 |
With the celebrations just starting on Kimi winning his first world title against the odds in Brazil, and Kimi is a man that knows how to party , I thought it oportune to reflect on the performances on the main protagonists this year. IMO Hamilton has driven the best of any of the main four over the course of the '07 season, I can count only 4 mistakes all year which is amazing for a rookie. Raikkonen looked rather off colour during the first half of the season but has been very rapid since Silverstone. Mass has been consistent over the year, with a few mistakes hear and there, but I dont think he is fast enough to be champ. Alonso is similar to Kimi, but he looked to be out of sorts in China and Brazil but his off track behaviour towards his own team has been appaling this year and I think he would have made for a very bad champion.

I guess Kimi has paid his dues. I'm pleased for him that he he has received the reward his driving deserves. The season doesn't finish till the final race is run, and we should bear in mind that Kimi won the most races too. There are plenty of years for Hamilton to do it, his time will undoubtedly come.
It's ironic that Kimi had to leave McLaren to achieve his success though.
I do also feel that McLaren won the constructors championship, regardless of what the table says.

I voted Hamilton... he deserved the championship.
With so a tiny difference there must be a final extra race among the 3 leaders.

Hamilton deserved the title.
But I think Kimi was deserving. As Easy Livin said has paid his dues and IMO Kimi should already have been a chmpion.
However, Lewis was the best driver this year hands down.

It's hard to argue that a champion doesn't deserve his title, especially because F1 doesn't run that wretched Chase to the Cup format. Also, Hamilton didn't make too many mistakes, but beaching his car pretty much ended it for him.
