It says COM is OOP and won't let me add it to the cart.
But nice order, and thanks for the site. Edited by Man With Hat - October 19 2007 at 01:27 |

I added them, and we are pleased indeed to see them where they belong! Have you heard U totem [5uu's & Motor Totemist together]? You might also try 5uu's: Point of Views - it includes a reissue of the Elements ep which those two bands also worked on together [early].
I just placed an order at no man's land in Berlin [online] and that cd seems to still be available for 16 euros there :
depending on where you live, you can usually cut shipping costs by ordering a bit o' quantity. Edited by listennow801 - October 19 2007 at 13:24 |

Thanks for the site. If worse comes to worse I'll give that a try (not to keen on ordering from overseas, but we'll see...)
And yes I have. U Totem's debut is fantastic. One of my favorite RIO/Avant albums ever. SA is good too, a little more 5uus style to my ears, which for me is a bit of a downside. I find 5uus to be a little hit or miss. I like Hunger's Teeth, but CIC didn't do so much for me. I'm giving it a few months off then listening to it again. And I didn't know that, I'll put POV on my list. Thanks.
Oh, I also ordered MTG's Vol. 2 from RotaryTotem which I'm very excited about.

I agree re: U totem.
I find 5uu's Abandonship absolutely kick-ass myself [Dave Kerman simply SMOKES on it!] Maybe i'll send you some samples to wet your whistle..;)
enjoy archive 2!
[I'm sitting here working - i'm a web designer who has a deadline. i was groaning about having to work on fri night, but lord i'm getting to listen to lots of wondrous music!]

Is anyone going to any of these shows of Time Of Orchids in NYC?
11/24/2007 10:00 PM - The Stone
E. 2nd St., Avenue C, New York, New York 10009 -
We play "Namesake Caution" in its entirety 12/29/2007 08:00 PM - The Annex
152 Orchard St., New York, New York 10002
We (my wife and I and maybe another friend) will probably go to the show at The Stone (yes, me the show-hater will go to one) where I hope to meet the band and they said they'll be happy to sign my copy of Namesake Caution and I'll also buy some of their other albums as well.

I only heard the stuff on their myspace page, and don't imagine this is enough to honestly judge. I imagine they have more depth than I surmised if they're on tdazik. i'll be home [near ny] at xmas time, so if i hear the whole album by then, who knows..?
btw: a friend of mine does the door at the Stone sometimes - if you go there, ask if the name of the guy at the door is Manny, if so introduce yourself - he's a wondrous fountain of knowledge [he's one of the partners of Downtown Music Gallery]

ToO are now on Cuneiform and Steve Feigenbaum has impeccable taste...
Thanks for letting me know about your friend at the Stone, I'll look for him.
By the way, how is The Stone, what sort of place is it in all terms (sitting/standing, food/drinks/prices, sound, space etc)?

I also ordered from their on Thursday, so it might have been me....
Was surprised to receive a confirmation email from James Grigsby himself saying he will send the cd's soon. Didn't realise he's the one operating this.
I have started my Supersilent journey today with number 1. Well I wasn't expecting that, but nevertheless I liked it (though I doubt many will). Electronics, percussions, no "real" music, no melody, what you might call noise... but for some reason my neurons responded to it positively...
I'll go on with the following albums next.

exactly how 'music' should be glad you have somewhat taken to their first. Was it just their first album, or the 3 disc set with their first three? |

It's the set with all 3 albums, but I want to focus on each album and only then proceed to the next. (I also have 4,5,6. If all goes well, I'll get 8 as well).

Cool, that is a very good way of listening to a band, especially ones like these. There is a pretty neat scene over the last few years happening in Austria, with the rhythmic percussion and improv electronics. The young man Martin Brandlmayr is one of my favourite experimental drummers going around at the moment.
You might be interested in bands like Radian, or maybe not. http://www.sendspace.com/file/jmg2ny |

I will see what I can do to sate your appetite.
I only have two of their albums. Their s/t ep and Rec.Extern, which coincidently is on Thrill Jockey. |

Any donations are always appreciated.
And thanks! I've certainly got high hopes for this one.
[And that is true. Whenever I have the most work I listen to the most stuff. Damn double edged swords...(or yay great procrastination device!)]

Thanks! As I said above any donations are always appreciated.
And I'm still searching. I really hope he gets some more in. Other than random auction or something it seems like that is the best choice. Though I feel kinda silly, I never knew that site existed til you posted it...

but every thing's subjective when it comes to taste..that is, i will allow my own ears to make the final decision [pour moi]. . ; )
I've never been to The Stone myself [been in PA for 11 yrs now - but I'm moving this winter: yea!] - I will ask Manny about it next time we talk though [shld be soon], and I'll let you know - Edited by listennow801 - October 21 2007 at 10:39 |

Seems I gotta move faster with all these avant nuts out and about.
Random comment about Supersilent: I've listened to snipets and I prefer the stuff from 1/2/3 more than 5 or 6. But it is hard to tell from quite a small amount of time on such long songs. Let me know if it's worth the money for that box set (reading the convo between you two it seems like it probably would be).

lol! really!
- the problem with web work, is that every time I listen to something new that I like, I end up doing all this net research about it and losing so much actual work time! a VERY distracting place this is! Edited by listennow801 - October 20 2007 at 23:47 |
