Howlin' Wolf is at the head of
the list of those bluesmen and deserves mention surely? ( Again) a
record not mentioned - the title track of
Icecream For Crow, is worth the price of the CD alone -
Gary Lucas's first recording and boy the guy has ready established his unique style. A couple of magnificent live recordings of
Lucas in the
Magic Band, on
Lucas's retrospective
Improve The Shining Hour,
Her Eyes Are A Million Miles finds
Van Vliet singing a love song with passion and sublety (check out the acknowledgments on that album). Of course Lucas (with
Van Vliet's approval) has taken the
Magic Band back on the road in Europe this summer -I'm much annoyed I missed them but told they were magnificient in Nottingham
