Just hearing now this band here:
SEMENTE, from Brazil... nice instrumentation but I didn't get the vocals yet.
Bands on the queue to be heard today:
- Mar de Robles (Chile) - new for me
- Veludo (Brasil) - new for me
- Poços & Nuvens (Brasil) - already known and very much appreciated.

Interesting post Atkingani, never heard of Semente and Veludo I am a fan too of Pocos & Nuvens, one of the many overlooked new bands here on Prog Archives, worth to check out, fellow progheads, search for the adventure!

Erik, they play an exciting blend of symphonic prog, art rock and canterbury. While it is from1999, they can be considered new prog right?
They feature members from bands such as Magenta and Cyan. Their music is a 70's style similar to Van Der Graaf Generator, Genesis and IQ with great analog Hammond and synth work (I believe I even hear a Mellotron at times!) mixed with melodic guitars. There is even some wonderful sax playing bringing out a Caravan feel at times.
If you can find or borrow a copy, I would suggest listening to it! A very unknown modern prog band that only put out one CD but a very good and enjoyable one at that. Here are some samples if anybody is interested: http://www.progrock.co.uk/samples/othellosyndrome/shadowofdreams/ Edited by dalt99 - October 08 2007 at 23:30 |

Thanks Dalt99
Today Hans from Progwalhalla borrowed me the following CD's:
- Trion : Pilgrim (wonderful Dutch symphonic prog with echoes from Seventies Camel,
Genesis and Focus featuring a great vintage keyboards sound and beautiful electric -
and acoustic guitar)
- Omniem : Jinetes Negros (from Argentina)
- New Trolls : Concerto Grosso The Seven Seasons
- Mass Media : Criptoidea (excellent symphonic jazzrock from Italy)
- Riverside : Rapid Eye Movement (Limited Edition 2-CD)
- Big Big Train - The Difference Machine (varied new prog)
I hope to review these items soon in this thread

Julian's Treatment - a band that shouldn't be lesser and unknown, but it doesn't rank as popular.
I loved much of its music, a lot of great fantasy, plus a special kind of psychedelic, hard rock and symphonic mixture. A Time Before This is deep, dark and mystic, it just trembles with your emotions. Waiters On The Dance is less artistic and simply follows the same music line, still sounds good enough for the tastes of classic prog rock. I've found a great pleasure in this band, and we're only talking about two albums, highly crafted, highly recommended. (Of course, two Rico reviews are to be written ) |

I just listened to the new Riverside album Rapid Eye Movement, perhaps not that exciting as their previous effort but still a very compelling musical experience, later this week I will write a review and I am looking forward to their Dutch concert in December!
Highly recommended: the new album Pilgrim by Dutch trio Trion, lush 24-carat symphonic prog (with echoes from Seventies Camel, Genesis and Focus) with a wonderful vintage keyboards sound and beautiful work on the electric - and acoustic guitar. A review will also follow soon in this thread.

I don't think your thread is "pure", having only lesser, unknown and new progrock bands, but fine, I guess I'll take this down to bhikkhu's thread. |

Just noticed there's two Dutch concerts, so I won't have to travel all the way to Zoetermeer on Dec 13: they'll be playing at Plato in Helmond on the 14th as well. |

The name Electric Orange sounds familiar to me, do they play a kind of psychedelic music?
I have just listened again to the new Trion album entitled Pilgrim, simply wonderful
Now listening again to the new Riverside album, some songs sound more accessible and atmospheric but it's still very obviously Riverside, lots of emotion!
Today I had to stop my dayshift halfway because of the illness of two collagues and I have to return this evening in order to do 3 nightshifts in a row , I have to be very creative to stay awake tonight
