It's an EP of four other songs written during the Fear of a Blank Planet sessions, one of which (Cheating the Polygraph) was played during the Fall '06 (before Way Out of Here took its place).

We've been drooling over it for months!!!! Where have you been?!? In the not-so-active topics, I'd wager. Ooh, I'm witty.

Sometimes I think Steven's just messing with us. Blank Planet will be reissued at some point with this as the second disc.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Please note that the material on the album is definitely NOT comprised
of "rejects" from the Fear of a Blank Planet album, in fact we consider
it every bit as good, they just didn't fit into what was a very concept
driven record. Nil Recurring is a completely self-contained and
carefully executed work so you can consider this the second (albeit
slightly short) Porcpine Tree album release of the year!

I've been listening to it for a couple of days now and it is really good, I'm actually starting to think it's better than FOABP.

Well, that explains why it's not included in the new special vinyl release of FoaBP which I ordered recently.

Taken from PT.com: PORCUPINE TREE – Fear of a Blank Planet (2LP vinyl)
Finally for all vinyl fanatics comes the double LP edition of Fear of a
Blank Planet, issued by vinyl specialists ToneFloat. The double vinyl
edition also includes all 4 tracks from the the Nil Recurring mini
album. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, packed in a state of the art heavy
gatefold picture sleeve with innerbags, designed by Carl Glover.
PORCUPINE TREE – Fear of a Blank Planet (2LP vinyl - Special Edition)
A special limited edition of only 1,000 copies worldwide pressed on
blue/black marbled 180 gram double vinyl, housed in a numbered picture
slipcase, and with the addition of a glossy full-colour 16-page
12x12inch picture booklet. The limited edition is only available
directly from ToneFloat and Porcupine Tree (one copy only per customer). I think that clarifies everything. EDIT: bugger you beat me to it.

^ what irritated me with the description from the PT website was that it doesn't say that the Nil Recurring tracks will be on the Special Edition. But of course a special edition wouldn't make much sense if it contained less tracks than the normal one.

Indeed I wouldn't have bought it if it didn't have the EP tracks.

^ you ordered it too? Considering that there'll only be 1000 copies it would be interesting to know how many of them go to Progarchives members ...

I preordered as soon as I could I a complete Steven Wilson fanboy. I suspect that quite a few PA members have ordered it, the rest have probably gone to the unofficial PT forum members or Residents of a Blank Planet members.
