Right now at first listen, this is an intersting release, wuite varied, with some influences from Spock's Beard (wonder if the presence of Dave Meros and Nick D'Virgilio contributed to that). So far, this is a varied and enjoyable album that will appeal to Neo-prog/Symph-rock listeners; well produced, appealing and well composed melodies and songs with some interesting more daring parts, rich in sound. But still this is only first listen and I sense it will grow on me, since for now I quite like it.

You lucky man! Tongue

The pre-excerpts for the album are very promising indeed!
I'm very curious ...

Not exactly lesser known but Long Island's Cathedral have reformed last year and released now their new (and second album) called The Bridge and by a post I read at the Progressive Ears forum, it is not similar to Stained Glass Stories but is a very good album.
Looking forward to listen to it.
For now it's available at CD Baby - http://cdbaby.com/cd/cathedral

La'cryma Christi (1994 - 2007)

is a very famous band. But probably unknown to proggers of PA. However even Japanese proggers frequently miss them. LOL
Only Sculpture Of Time is a great progressive rock album. It reminds me of Vienna and Yes. No keyboards were used on the album, but it doesn't harm the quality. Very cool performance !!

La'cryma Christi / Sculpture Of Time (released on November 21, 1997)

I forgot to add information. They are old band !! But recently (February 1, 2007) it is reissued by Universal Records. So I wrote here. Embarrassed Catalog number is UPCY6292.

Fellow symhonic proggers! Metaphor is back with a new CD called "The Sparrow": METAPHOR:%20The%20Sparrow
From the song samples on their website, this sounds like it will be back to the great Genesis-like prog of their first CD "Starfooted" from 1999.

Yet another CD to check out in 2007. This is turning into a great year. ! can't wait to get this and the new Little Atlas CD. Another great modern USA band that gets low publicity.
Best of 2006 that I've heard:
PFM-Stati Di Immaginazione
Zenit-Surrender (Best "unknown" album)
Oaksenham - Conquest of Pacific
2007:
Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon
La Torre Del Alchimista - Neo

Yesterday I watched the Tarkus DVD again, exciting work on the Minimoog, mighty close to the sound of Seventies Rick Wakeman Approve

Dalt99, I can only repeat Jimmy Row his words about Nexus, William Gray and Tarkus:

                                          BUY THEM ALL Clap !!

Well, I can't quite afford to buy 3 CDs at one time!! Confused BUT, I will order them in the next couple months! I have just ordered William Gray and the new Salva CD called "Left to Burn". Salva is another band that is fantastic but is hardly talked about. Right now I am listening to the new Black Bonzo CD. It's AMAZING!!!! I can't believe it but it is TWICE as good as their first CD. A must buy if you liked their first CD. Clap

Thanks for your posts fellow progheads, lots of interesting
information by Avestin, Honganji and Dalt99 and good to
notice that you keep this thread alive Thumbs%20Up

Yesterday I was on the Symforce Festival, I enjoyed the gigs by new bands Riverside and especially Beardfish (so dynamic and energetic) Thumbs%20Up. And their keyboardplayer also performed in his two-man-band project Bootcut, drums and awesome Hammond L100 work, evoking the good days of the legendary Hansson & Karlsson. I haven't seen new French Lazuli but I was told that they did very well, a full house and a great gig.

The forthcoming week I will write reviews about Bootcut and the new Armenian band Oaksenham with their album Conquest Of The Pacific.

Erik, really thinking of getting Tempano - The Agony and Ecstasy.  All the reviews look stellar.  Have you heard this album or anyone else give it a strong recommendation.  The samples on their website don't seem to work.

Thanks for the recommendations Johnobvious, I will check these bands out (is Tempano that band from Venezuela?).

Today I posted a review about Peter Pan from Poland, I was surprised to see it categorized as Neo-Prog, to me it sounds as Heavy Prog.

The forthcoming days I will listening sessions with Bootcut and Oaksenham, my reviews will be published here this week.

Hello Andrea.

Thanks, good to see you back on Prog Archives and I am even more glad that you have discovered my new thread about the new lesser and unknown progrock bands Thumbs%20Up
My recommendation for you as an Italian proghead: check out new Italian progrock band Obscura, wonderful symphonic prog Clap

At this moment I am listening to Bootcut, I am carried away by the very pleasant work on the Hammond organ Approve

Tempano is one of the bands on The Odyssey, Erik. I guess you haven't heard any of their albums proper.

You are right Johnobvious, I just checked my The Odyssey review and found this:

CD3 (68:07) 7. Tempano from Brasil is the most original but also less accessible sounding band on this 3-CD. The track starts with church organ and opera-like vocals, then adventurous and a bit wayward progrock featuring sensitive electric guitar work, wonderful choir-Mellotron and great synthesizers.

I'll give 'er a try:

top rec's for 2006/2007:

William Gray - Living Fossils
Nexus - Perpetuum Karma
Beardfish - Sleeping in Traffic Part One
Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon (I'm ordering this one next week, looking forward to it)
La Torre dell'Alchimista - Neo
Outer Limits - Stromatolite
Obscura - Le Citta Invisibili (another one I'll get next week thanks to erik's enthusiastic wordsThumbs%20Up)
Shadow Circus - Welcome to the Freakroom (don't particularly care for this one but almost everyone else loves it)
Little Tragedies - New Faust
Osada Vida - Three Seats Behind a Triangle

there's still many I left off but these are a good cross-section of what "symphomaniacs" are talking aboutApprove

These bands all made one or more albums in 2006/2007 and are my favorites in no particular order:

Conqueror
William gray
Notabene
La Maschera
Finisterre
Nemo
Gourishankar
Disen Gage
Karfagen
Nexus

Also very good:
La Torre dell alchemista
Gan Eden
Faveravola

I noticed that 2005 must have been a very good year, several bands like Aries, Mangala Vallis and Ubi Maior for instance made strong  albums that year.

DISEN GAGE is quite good, I quite like  The Screw-Loose Entertainment and I'm looking to get Libertage as well.
Not too far from this (that is being an instrumental guitar lead band) is the Argentinian band Deformica which are not in PA yet that have released H - an instrumental exciting and filled with soul guitar lead rock.
This instrumental rock niche is quite an interesting one with many bands from various countries playing this, all having their own special sound (Mar De Robles for instance).
