Topic: Flower Kings "Sum of No Evil" Posted: September 12 2007 at 15:55 |
Hi there,
Does anyone know what is on the bonus disc for the new TFK (The Flower Kings) album, "The Sum of No Evil"? I went to pre-order it from amazon.com and I saw that there was a 2-disc version in a digipak case.
Peace & take care

I mentioned this under the thread in Prog News and have had no responses yet. Nothing from the band that I know of talking about it.

There's a similar thread over at progressiveears.com...where answers lie.

In passing, I'd never paid attention to this band at all. Just played the samples on the site and I'm stunned. Are these typical? If so, I'm going to have to invest in their discography.
Thanks to those who drew my attention to them!

You need to get them all but maybe save Adam & Eve, Parradox Hotel and The Rainmaker until last.
I would start with Space Revolver, Back in the World of Adventures and Flower Power.
I have high hopes for this new one. Can't wait to here it!

Rainmaker is -not- ordinary. It is perhaps their most rhythmically and harmonically complex album if you know a single thing about music theory. Space Revolver on the other hand is the simplest album TFK have ever done... I'll never understand why most think SR is their proggiest and Rainmaker is their poppiest...

Because it's an illusion in style of music. Space Revolver sounds closer to classic-prog, in other words. Or perhaps because not everyone knows about rhythm and harmony?

If this album is boring then I can't imagine how intriguing their other CDs are! For me there's not a dull moment to be found on "Sum."

The album is amazing, but pretty inaccessible and not the funnest thing on first listens.
Check the reviews here, it's the best rated album from them by a wide margin, and finally the collaborators are giving 4-5 star reviews.

Unfold the Future is their best, just wanted to say, oh and TFK is way more interesting than power metal

Me. I had to make a break after first 3 tracks 'coz felt almost sleeping. Only Bodin's instrumental made me awake. I doubt I'd return to this. Or maybe 4-5 more times just to write a review

That's what we were talking about, inaccesible...
Make and extra effort and try it at least 5 times.
