They're both outstanding, but in the end I surely prefer Tommy... and you?Big%20smile

Most of TOMMY sounds boring. Just give me QUADROPHENIA any time, or better still: WHO'S NEXT!

I don't like Who's next... It's not the normal level of The WHO... Only "Behind Blue Eyes" is good...

Tommy is great, but I sometimes find myself falling asleep during some sections. Quadrophenia, however, keeps my interest from beginning to end.

That's a bit dismissive of two of their best and well-known numbers - Baba O'Reilly and Won't Get Fooled Again.

I don't like either of them at all. Ridiculously overrated.

And they're far from prog.

Quadrophenia is The Who at their peak in the studio. It sure is an achievment, this album. If it wasn't for Tommy though, I wouldn't be into The Who. Close match, but Quadrophenia's sometimes brutally realistic lyrics, and great playing from all the members (to take nothing away from Tommy) is why I choose this album.

I just didn't like Quadrophenia (even though Toyah was in the film Wink), 5:15 was an okay single.

Tommy on the other-hand I love, unfortunately back in the early 70's my sister and I bought this between us - she bought Part 1 and I bought Part 2, which was fine until we bothh left home and now the two halves are 120 miles apart.

Has anyone watched Ken Russell's version of Tommy recently? It looks like it was made for about £50.
What?

Quad! Its spectacular.  I didn't like either that much at first.  After hearing Tommy on vinyl things popped out at me much better.  Quad on the 3rd/4th listen became my favorite though.  Its so well done in every way. Great drumming, guitar riffs and jams, bass playing, howling vocals, interesting enough story.  And some sweet, dark cover art.  Oh and the production job is gets a 20 out of 10

Quad has the coherent and meaningful story, the intertwining musical themes, and that beautiful anger.

Like that ever was a contest, quad by far. There is nothing like it in the music world, this would be like the great unknown

I think Quadrophenia is so good I went and found one of the old polls that is exactly like this (from March 07) and voted for it again.  It is in Non-prog Music, started before The Who even got on the site.

I know this is at least the third one exactly like this.

I prefer "Tommy" (even if its production is a little annoying) - but the Who's best album to me is "Who's Next"
