In this Magma video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=vBh6MAQQTwk&mode=related&search=) Jean-Pierre Lambert is using a transparent-bodied bass that I rather like.  However, due to the camera angles, I can't make out the name of the company who makes it.  Can anybody identify this instrument for me?

Dearmond used to make transparent instruments but it could just as easily be a custom built one.

I didn't get a good view, but was wondering if it might be a Dan Armstrong lucite bass (an American guitar).

That's almost definitely it.  Thanks, Logan!

No probs.  The Ampet Dan Armstrong Lucite Bass is a real classic.  Love to have one, a '69 (but not to play), a new guitar (new version) would sound better (assuming I wasn't the one playing it).

Yet another expensive instrument to add to my wishlist, I suppose.  I guess I'll put it between Chapman Stick and Rickenbacker 4003, thus a bit below MellotronErmm

Can probably get another clear body guitar fairly cheap on e-bay (they're great cause you can see better when you're playing bass with your teeth).  I'd have to limit myself to the cellophane variety (money being almost as tight as the Glad Man in Cling-Wrap at the moment).  I'd love a Chapman stick, but I can barely afford chapstick these days.  I do have an Orville Redenbocker [sic] though, but that's only good for pop and Korn music..

A couple of years ago a couple of other guitar makers were making lucite guitars. One was BC Rich and I can't remember the others off hand. So if a Dan Armstrong is out of your price range, look around. Maybe put "lucite" into a search engine.

I used to have an acrylic (perspex or lucite, depending where you come from) strat copy. It weighed a ton! Seriously, it was the heaviest guitar I have ever played. If you're thinking of getting one, be careful, you might injure your back!

Not even slightly prog, but I remember seeing a cool video of Fu Manchu with a transparent guitar.
