The only thing that affects me from your list is the "marketplace" thing so that's what I voted, but I guess it's all for the better despite it being so annoying. Otherwise, I never used AOL, Napster and any of the things you mentioned; except for Myspace, which is something good but populated with too many idiots and spammers. However I like my own Myspace.

I don't think it does "suck"....... however I voted "something else" , so I will explain!
For me the thing that sucks about the internet is that it can be like techie diarrhoea....... the technology is pouring out so incredibly fast that folk don't seem to have paused for thought, they just keep on and on....What I mean is, that because a] the technology is available and b] one pays their monthly broadband subscription, so many people thik that it entitles them to what ever they darn well please, and the "need/feed/greed" is taking over. There are so many amazingly great things about the internet, but the thoughtless greed that it motivates amongst many is, in my view the worst aspect entirely. P-C x |

The Internet started to suck as soon as the corporate suits got their mits on it. As soon as it was viewed as a vehicle to make money the beauty of the Internet bcamed skewed. The suits turned it over to the marketing departments and Web 2.0 was born with useless blogs and RSSs. Other things that add to this unpleasant experience: spam, viruses and popup ( and not popup) advertising.

You do realise that after midnight at weekends (PST) the internet really does suck. There's this little tiny switch at Cisco HQ in San Jose, (called the Cisco Worldwide Contacts), much like this one: only smaller and with wires attached. And there is this person who is employed by the World Wide Web Consortium soley tell the person whose job it is to switch this little tiny switch when to switch this little tiny switch and that 'when' is on the stroke of midnight (Pacific Standard Time) and when that person does flick that little tiny switch the whole of the Internet is reversed and all the files you've got on your PC are sucked back into the Internet.Edited by darqdean - September 10 2007 at 19:12 |

Are you saying they can't multitask, Micky? Firefox's tabbed browsing feature is very useful. Edited by Geck0 - September 10 2007 at 19:16 |

It's not that hard to type with one hand, although it's distracting.

Ah, but it would have been pixelated porn, or ASCII porn back then... not very exciting. |
