Topic: New Pain Of Salvation DVD Posted: September 01 2007 at 07:47 |
Pain of Salvation to start mixing new DVD next month
Pain of Salvation vocalist, Daniel Gildenlow, had this to say:
"Yes,
the rumors are correct. We filmed one of the shows on our latest tour
and we plan to release a DVD from that show. I have been on paternity
leave for a few months now, an experience I encourage every dad to try,
but come September we are starting to work on bonus material, mixing
etc. No release date has been set yet, as we are also in the middle of
replacing band members and working on new material, but now you at
least you can start waiting for real."
In other news, Pain of Salvation are narrowing their drummer search:
Former
drummer, Johan Langell, left the band in April to focus on family life
forcing the Swedish progressive band to begin the long, arduous search
for a new drummer.
"Hundreds of
applications from all around the world came in, and after a difficult
screening process, focusing mainly on the Swedish applications, a
handful of drummers made it to auditions. These auditions have now been
held, and all of those drummers proved to be very skillful. The process
will now continue to the next level, so there is no point in applying
for the part anymore. We want to thank you all for offering your
services. News will be posted."

I'd have to see the tracklist. If it's Scarsick heavy as I expect it to be I doubt I'll be buying.

I think it will be the same or very similar to the show in Budapest.
It opens and closes with 2 Scarsick tracks+ 3 encore tracks(a Leonard Cohen cover, Cribcaged, Used), between these in chronological order 2-3 songs from each album except Be, only Diffidentia is in the setlist. About 110 minutes if memory serves well.

O well in that case I'm most likely sold : )
Except the Cohen cover

No, no, no..... Pain Of Salvation first has to come back to life for me to get a DVD... Scarsick dvd? man! Will Gildenlow be dressed as an angry teen that hates America, hip-hop, and everything he sees? No, no.... Daniel hates everybody... It was much better when Daniel created ideas, arranged thoughts.... I'll have to skip this one.... After BE, Scarsick definitely ISN'T.
What's wrong with Cohen? I mean, not POS' version, but Cohen himself is a respected atist....
And, to paraphrase that wise, precise post below,
Screw America, screw rich people, screw...
...Wait, I sound like Daniel in SCARSICK.... I sound angry, upset and full of resentment....

I'll keep an eye on Pain Of Salvation ... they haven't lost me yet; however, I haven't been thrilled with either Be or Scarsick (although, I don't detest them, either).
It sure does sound like he's not a big fan of our lovely country though.

The title of the dvd will be: Office of Strategic Contemplation
The group's setlist was as follows, the night the dvd was shot: 01. Scarsick (Scarsick) 02. America (Scarsick) 03. ! (Entropia) 04. Nightmist (Entropia) 05. Handful of Nothing (One Hour By The Concrete Lake) 06. New Year's Eve (One Hour By The Concrete Lake) 07. Ashes (The Perfect Element Part I) 08. Undertow (Remedy Lane) 09. This Heart of Mine/ Song for the Innocent (Remedy Lane/The Perfect Element Part I) 10. Chain Sling (Remedy Lane) 11. Diffidentia (Be) 12. Flame to the Moth (Scarsick) 13. Disco Queen (Scarsick) ----------------------------------- 14. Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen) 15. Cribcaged (Scarsick) 16. Used (The Perfect Element Part I) Although the first three songs on scarsick consisted mostly of rap, i still think Gildenlôw is a good vocalist, because he's not afraid to test new vocal styles, and he is very diverse! Only Gildenlôw can make rap sound cool in metal Flame to the Moth and Idiocracy are my favorite songs from Scarsick, and even though it is not my favorite album, I still think that it's a good one! I've seen them twice here in Norway, and i really hope I get to see them more.. They play so very very tight, have lots of self-irony on-stage (and even more off-stage), so at the last concert they ended up playing the intro for "This Heart of Mine" as a relaxation groove (Gildenlöw saying: please, relax you body, and journey to the center of your mind.. you will find peace" and lots of such stuff. Did that a couple of times during the concert. Their last song that evening was The Perfect Element.. Whoa! Stil gives me goosebumps to think about that night.. Can't wait for the dvd! By the way, Gildenlôw is not the first to have things against America, don't forget your very own, late great Billy Hicks in the 80's \ 90's ;) Damn intelligent and funny guy, with a lot more anger than Gildenlôw has.

I've just started getting into Pain Of Salvation, and I must say I'm looking forward to this. I actually really like Scarsick, and I'd love to hear a live Disco Queen in 5.1
