Hey, I have a hypothetical question...if the diabolical, and misinformed, plan to move the Tull into art rock had taken place, which of the sub-sub categories would have Ian and the lads been finally dumped into?

 I would say Heavy - if you consider the bulk of the work and their heavy blooz beginnings - but frankly I think ProgFolk is fine for them

ALRIGHT! Kick ass.
Yeah, I think that Prog Folk is fine too. Ian's always been straddling that line between folk and hard rock...with jazzy, bloozy, Celtic, psychodelic, artsy undertones. And some progressive ones too, if memory serves.

Now that the S word has been thrown around a bit, I don't suppose a sub-genre called "sellout prog" would fly. It says more than many of the other descriptors being used. I guess it would be too open to interpretation and somebody would get their feelings hurt when their favorite "prog" album gets put in the sellout sub-genre.

Yeah, Stand Up's pretty sweet.
Genres? Meh. Tull is unaffected, so my long term goals stay in place.
However, from the heart, I'm gonna miss art rock. It was the butt of an occasional joke in my reviews, and I ain't cleanin' it up! My tribute to the "lost" genre.
