I voted for probably my favorite frontman, Geddy. No matter who writes what lyrics, Geddy and Alex write the majority of the music, and Geddy is just a whirlwind onstage. His singing is unique and he is the main portal through which we are given Rush's music. Plus there is something about the way he acts onstage that makes me very happy, almost as if I would be the exact same way onstage. So I guess he strikes a chord with me as a creative frontman who presents the songs in an interesting manner and gives them new life, so to speak, more so than the other two. Not to say that the other two aren't amazing live too. But second only to Mel Collins, Geddy Lee is my favorite professional musician.

Musically, id like to think Lifeson is most creative.  His quirky and augmenting use of chords (especially late 70's and early 80's) is just too cool.  As a whole, i'd say Neil: hes quite an accomlished drummer and lyricist, as well as an author, and i'm sure hes written lots of other stuff that nobody's ever seen.

When I created this thread I had the idea that it would be a difficult choice and indeed, reading the posts (thanks for joining Thumbs%20Up ) it appears to be a diffcult choice and some even decided not to choose which is still a choice Wink !

Personally I had expected that Neil Peart would outnumber Alex Lifeson in this poll because worldwide Neil gets the most recognition for his drumming but on the other hand Alex has more competition as a guitarplayer.

I took the pictures from this great site:

Lifeson, hands down. I base my decision on Victor vs. My Favorite Headache. While Ged's songs are good, Victor is very creative. Alex tries so many new things.

Wow that's a toughie! I voted for Geddy as he sings, plays Bass and Keyboards and writes the music with Alex.

If any of the 3 members left though Rush could no longer exist IMO so really they are equally important.

They are all great, but from what i've read recently, Neil Peart seems to be the driving force behind many albums. This applies especially to Snakes and Arrows album.

Because of his appearance in Trailer Park Boys
Because he looks like my friend Iain H (guitarist in Part Chimp)
Because I think he should have his fingers broken to stop him playing parts that are too difficult for me to play...

Alex wins!

Yeah, it's really hard to choose. But the most creative creature of these three is Alex Lifeson, his chord lexicon, his sound. Only we should listen to his solo on Double Agent, an ode to creativity Period.

Though decision it´s like someone asking you which of your sons did you prefer?

Sure, but who's left to handle Florida hotel security staff ?

That's the spirit Darqdean, good post, thanks Thumbs%20Up By the way, why don't you post at that level in a thread about Progressive versus Prog?
