indeed - I have a bias against terrible, overrated music. from your username I'd say you have a bias of your own Embarrassed

and I can't say "crap" in a review?

I personally find it disturbing how many reviews are deleted simply because some members on the site disagree with how they are written or claiming that someone has a "bias." What does that mean? If I don't like a band, am I biased against it?
I have seen plenty of perfectly good reviews deleted because they are well written, but remember that English is not the first language of many people here. Should people not be allowed to express their opinions on music unless they are an eloquent writer?

I understand the need to delete abusive or joke reviews, but on the whole I think it is done far too often.

Nothing is ever deleted because of the reviewers point of view.

The only reason a review would be removed would be if it clearly breaches the reviews guidelines.

I'd say the balance of positive and negative reviews which are removed is roughly equal, and that the total of both is a small fraction of 1%.

Please also be aware that reviews are sometimes deleted at the request of the reviewer, often so that they can post a better one.

They can't be valid, not even if he's Italian and comes with the excuse that he can't write English.

If many people can get something, at least a bit, out of what they like about an album they review, this guy shouldn't do at all what he's doing. At best, he should continue rating, if he likes it that way.

(okay, okay, I know this should be said in Reviews Discussion, but there's just no way I can link this post of mine with the last post over there, who was on a totally different subject WinkEmbarrassed)

Funny Ricochet, I was going to report that guy's reviews, I mean they are utterly not acceptable. Not anyone can understand the value he gives to the album or what's the album like with Math reviews! Someone needs to do something or he'll continue!

I totally agree these kinds of "review" are not acceptable at all. For the matter of fact - these are not reviews at all, just a sort of calculation apprehendable only to the writer.

I think this person Swanee should be contacted and warned to follow the guidlines for reviews.

Delete them all!

Delete the reviews, but I believe the ratings are honest and should be counted.

http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=15134

Should his reviews be deleted? He gives no insight at all, and only gives each specific song a rating out of 5 and then tallies the total, there's absolutely no commentary.

And also, earlier I added an album to the Various Artists sections called "Cosmic Dreams" because Brian Eno and Vangelis both do a song on the album, but the album isn't necessarily progressive. The concept is spacey electronic music, and some songs are long (9 minutes is the longest), but I not entirely sure if it belongs here. http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=16090 is the link. If you decide not to delete, at least get a better picture of it - the only one I could find was that terrible black and white one, but amazon's is better.

Kitaro and Yanni on it, aaargh! Not a good idea.
Recently a various artists album was rejected, despite containing a 20 minutes live performance by Schulze.

(and, as I've already told you, the math-reviewer has been reported. those reviews of his should be deleted) Tongue

Of course those are not proper reviews, but why should them be deleted? I prefer that sorry math explanation that a no-explanation at all rating...

If we accept them from one member TT, we have to accept all of them. Better to nip it in the bud.Wink

If the reviewer chooses to include such information in a proper review, that is left untouched.

The T, you're a master at such conversations, but I just don't why that reviewer is different at rating without reviewing (which he has done, before this incident) and is different at reviewing with a bit of argument and individual ratings, calculated. It's just the same thing, or, worse, reviewing with only such math calculations is a bit of disrespect for all others reviewers, from those who just say "I like it" to those who, well, put hard bone on it.

Don't you agree?

You didn't deal with http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=16090, though. I added it, and now I feel that it should be removed. I added it just because two artists on the album are featured on this website, but that doesn't necessarily make it prog.

(Though I realize this isn't exactly the ideal place to mention it...)
