Sounds to me like it's part of a sentence.  that only part of it was used.  Can't say I like the band, but the name's ok by my book.

1 Chronicles 13:7-9

Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets.

I like them, King of the Dead is a proto-doom classic. Although their heyday was in the 80es, they sounded like a band in the early 70s. Not to mention the beautiful fantasy cover paintings by Michael Whelan.

The band name actually is not that bad. It is taken from "Lord of the Rings".

Spock's Beard is also a candidate. And what about Yes?

With the exceptions of Kansas, UK and Oregon, bands named after geographical locations SUCK big time!

Bands named after baby talk (Kajagoogoo, Wah Wah Nee) are abominable!

Bands using interjections aren't any better (WHAM!)

Bands that misspell words and use "boys" or "girls"  or "kids" in the name

Band names that sound like a law firm (Emerson Lake & Palmer, Bruce Lordan and Trower, West Bruce & Lang)

ALL rap/hip-hop names just plain suck, 'nuff said.

Other awful band names:

The Flower Kings
INXS
Pendragon
The The
Frankie Goes To Hollywood
999
Flock of Seagulls
Cirith Ungol
Sigue Sigue Sputnik

Jethro Tull has to be one of the worst names ever.  Even worse, according to Wikipedia this is where that name comes from:

"Band names were often supplied by the staff of their booking agents, one of whom, a history buff, eventually christened them Jethro Tull after the 18th-century agriculturist who invented the seed drill."

Seed drills huh.  LOL.

Also ELP and Happy the Man come to mind.

But I like Symphony X.  Short and simple and makes you wonder what kind of music they play.  Not cheesy at all Tongue

But it is the name of a guy from England during the Industrial Revolution or something along those lines....

Nope, some fifteenth century farmer who did something amazing with a plow...Confused

Yeah, its the name of an English guy during the Industrial Revolution. I am right!

He did improve the plow, so you are also right as well.

I take contention with this only because their name is taken from the character V's residence in V for Vendetta, one of the best graphic novels and movie adaptation ever.

Tthat doesn't make it a good name for a band, though! Wink
Yes, it does.Embarrassed
