I see members with 'Prog Metal Specialist' or 'Honorary Collaborator' under there user name.

How do I become one of those? Do I need to review or something?

Any information would be great, as I would like to do get one of those titles.
I have a decent grasp of music theory and playing, and I know a lot about music (bands etc).

Well, the specialist titles were created out of necessity to organize or "clean up" the bands within genres and to oversee the addition of new bands. Generally, members are recognized and added as collaborators (if they wish) for writing a decent amount of good reviews, or helping with bands additions, discography completion, etc.

Honorary Collaborators are members who have probably written a good amount of reviews, contributed to the site greatly (with general good forum sportsmanship, band additions, or otherwise), and who may not be very active in site upkeep, but who deserve recognition nonetheless. Generally, Honorary Collaborators have been with the site for a few years.

The FAQ's thread should help to answer your question Coleio.

The best bet is to submit some good reviews of bands in the genre you are interested in, that gets you noticed. Have a chat then with the person who heads up that genre team about your shared interest, and offer your services.

If your desire to help PA isn't shallow, coleio, then you can become a good collaborator in a couple of months, with some good reviews written (cause, mainly, one gets Prog Reviewer first), with some exciting ideas and discussions on the net or just with a "prog feeling" deep inside that makes you remarked.

Later, if you usually like very much, know to interpret very much or are a just a good knower of a genre, you could join that genre's team and help out.

------

don't, instead, pay attention to rumors that say collaborators are people who bought stock actions for this site and share it. Wink

^ I can imagine.

Girl: What do you do?

Me: Oh I spend most of my days posting music reviews on an internet site.

Girl: Really? What type of music?

Me: You know, prog rock.

Girl: What's prog rock?

Me: Bands like Soft Machine, Anglagard, PFM, and Robert Fripp.

Girl: I've never heard of those bands.

Me: What?!?!? *Plays some Robert Fripp*

Girl: Aaaggh! YOU FREAK! GET OUT!

LOL So that means you no longer want to become a Prog Reviewer, Ben?

BTW: I would have expected you to play here some Soft Machine rather than Fripp...

Half of the reviewers here are non-native English speakers, including some of the most prolific. There's also a case of a young chevalier from Eastern Europe who is rivalling The Bard... Big%20smileWink
