Topic: G - the Greatest proG letter Posted: July 31 2007 at 19:14 |
Genesis, Godspeed You!, Gnidrolog, Gentle Giant, Green Carnation (not a huge fan, but like them nonetheless), Gryphon, Gordian Knot, and Gazpacho.
What's your favourite prog letter?

Probably M.
Magma, Magyar Posse, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Maneige, Marillion, Mark Hollis, Mars Volta, Mastodon, Maudlin of the Well, Maxophone, Meshuggah, Metamorfosi, Mike Oldfield, Mogwai, Mono, Mr. Bungle, Mum, Museo Rosenbach, and My Dying Bride.
Bunch of non-prog stuff too: M83, Massive Attack, Merzbow, Messiaen, Mew, Miles Davis, Mozart, Mew, My Bloody Valentine, etc.
K is also one of my favorite letters due to Kayo Dot and King Crimson.

Not to forget Gong, Guru Guru and Greenslade. But the award goes to the letter H: Peter Hammill, Steve Hackett, High Tide, Steve Hillage, Hawkwind, Here and Now, Hatfield and the North, Hoelderlin. Counting the albums of Hammill and Hawkwind alone you probably already pass the 100 mark.

Much as respect your right to post whatever the hell you want, this has got to be one of the most inane threads ever. But hey, I can play along. Favorite letter hmmm, what alphabet??? Archaic Cyrillic? Cause if so, then my favorite letter is UK. (Note: Technically speaking it's the name of the letter.)

Mmm... I don't know... T should be the best letter, so let me see...
Therion, Threshold, Tomas Bodin, Tool, Transatlantic.... decent enough... BUT if we add bands that start with "The", then things get better: The Beatles, the Decemberists, The Mars Volta, The FLOWER KINGS, The Gathering, The Doors, The Tangent, The Devin Townsend Band....
I guess the T rules....
And also "D T"

Pendragon, Pain of Salvation, Pink Floyd, PFM, Porcupine Tree, Pallas

with G i would add Goblin and Garybaldi
P is a letter that always caught my attention, not only for prog, when i was younger i used to listen to Portishead, Pixies, Primus even Placebo...
And also with P or G we could say Peter Gabriel

"The" does not count. The Flower Kings are listed under "F", and rightfully so.
