I've always thought the same thing of their name. I haven't heard any of their music and it may be fantastic but their name sounds like a Metalhead who finally realized classical music was cool but had to make it sound hardcore. |

I take contention with this only because their name is taken from the character V's residence in V for Vendetta, one of the best graphic novels and movie adaptation ever. |

Anything that borrows from Tolkien annoys me. The three that come to mind are Isildur's Bane, Shadowfax, and Gandalf, I'm sure there are plenty more though.

Tthat doesn't make it a good name for a band, though!

Honestly, there are far more worse Metal band names than Anal c**t. How about Torsof**k? Pollution? Job For A Cowboy? Neige Noire? |

Job For A Cowboy and The Devil Wears Prada are two of the suckiest band names ever!
Emerson, Lake and Palmer is an unimaginative name and is therefore worth a mention... the same goes for the Alan Parsons Project. |

Roland und die Dadadogs (band featuring Roland Schaeffer of German 70s band Brainstorm and Guru Guru as well as a few other musicians who moved in the Guru Guru / Kraan / Embryo / Amon Düül 2 / Missus Beastly / Karthago circle which exchanged musicians back and forth).

Apart from the first one you mention, the names are at least less puberal. And I do know about the grindcore and other extreme bands - I don't like their sound, and the band names and track titles don't help much in liking them either. |

Jethro Tull has to be one of the worst names ever. Even worse, according to Wikipedia this is where that name comes from: "Band names were often supplied by the staff of their booking agents, one of whom, a history buff, eventually christened them Jethro Tull after the 18th-century agriculturist who invented the seed drill." Seed drills huh. LOL. Also ELP and Happy the Man come to mind. But I like Symphony X. Short and simple and makes you wonder what kind of music they play. Not cheesy at all |
