Do any of you guys have a creative X-Fi? If so, what is your opinion of the crystalizer effect. From what I've heard on my machine (just installed card) so far it seems that it can be beneficial for mp3s with a less than desirable bit-rate, but if it run on an mp3 with very little data loss, it seems to insert a whole lot of unnecessary hiss and rumble. What are you guys experiences with it?

I have an X-Fi card ... I agree with you about the Crystalizer. It's great to "beef up" weak sounds, but always at the price of changing the original sound - sometimes for the worse. I like it for movies and computer games though.

I guess it's better to buy a new big hard drive and rip the music in Lossless formats than trying to "beautify" 128kbps mp3s.Smile
