if you grew up listening to Floyd in your mom's car when you were a child, i can understand how it may appear lifeless and boring.
Like most people on PA, I love PF, despite not having listened to one of their albums in eighteen months.
I have to keep branching lol. Right now: (Samlas Mammas Manna and Sonic Youth)
lol

Hey dont go there mate, cause Michael Jackson and Celine Dion and Mariah Carey and so on, have sold millions of albums, and their music isnt properly good is it? Or by definition to sell millions of albums means good music?

Too late, I'm already there
It is not possible to consistantly sell millions of albums if you are producing bad music. There are enough one-hit wonders out there to show that you can do it once, and maybe twice but never three-times. Whether we like the music or not, the artists you mention do make good music, it is just not to our descerning progtastic tastes.

As much as I've heard, I'm quite satisfied...
Dark Side of the Moon however drags on as a whole.

I think that the ones that think that pink floyd is boring, or rubbish, they really dont know nothing about music, and specially of prog rock.
this topic/poll is a insult to the members of this forum that expect having and interesting discusion about music, and not participating in some kind of "anti-prog" poll.

Some people get bored during the first five minutes of anything!
Most people don't like progressive music at all
A few people criticize Pink Floyd wholesale when what they really mean is they personnaly don't like them.

This is what the poll maker has to say!:
First of all... How did this thread come back?... I actually forgot I made it... As for my opinion about Floyd... Not my favorite band... If you look at the beginning of the thread you can see I chose a very totalitarian and annoying way of expressing my thoughts about Pink Floyd and them being boring... Actually I chose to express it that way just because I was in a bad mood, came back from a Jam session which was supposed to be a Jam with jazz players, and I brought my 88 key synth and everything, was having a great time, but then Floyd fans happened to take over and we ended up improvising on Floyd songs, which was boring so I just felt like being childish and making this poll!
Anyways, sorry if I "Offended" anyone... everyone is entitled to their opinion, blah blah blah!
As for that IDIOT who said "You cant consistently sell lots of albums if your making bad music....." - thats rubbish.... in my humble opinion, its simply a very stupid remark, and I really can't bother trying to explain why I think its so stupid...
Please, the guy who wrote this piece of nonsense... just... go away and sit in some corner alone, will ya?
that would be great.

^ I will agree that with a lot of the artists today, they are actually selling a bunch of WORDS!
Music isnt relevant in the mainstream culture, 95.5 percent of today's music is completely and utterly centered around the vocals and lyrics. That is the truth, especially with rap, hip-hop and r&b, but those genres of music are supposed to be almost completely about the lyrics, therefore obsolete from my argument. But the rock/ pop music today is literally stabbing their makers in the back! turn to a mainstream radio and tell me how many minuetes of: Jam session, Solo's, intro's, and passages you hear. ABOUT 30 SECONDS PER ALBUM!!!
So when someone say's a mainstream artist is putting out bad MUSIC, I will agree.

Hmmm, boring? Sometimes. They can be brilliant, though. But one thing that irritates me most in their music is Waters' self-important concepts.
That's why I'd rather listen to Division Bell that to The Wall.

Not at all, although Mason's sensible drumming style and Gilmour's low-temp playing may persuade some into thinking so.

Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast is and most of the stuff of Atom Heat Mother. And Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Gooving with a Pict certainly loose's its charm after a while but overall I can listen to most Of Floyd all day, and do for that matter.
