Hi all proglovers

This saturday July 7th, progressive rock coverband Awakening will take part in the Dommelsch Clash of the Coverbands contest.
Four bands will be playing at 't Pakhuus in Silvolde, the Netherlands
Doors open at 19.30 and entrance is FREE!

We think it will be a unique thing to have a prog band in this contest, as it's mostly pop/rock and Top40's bands entering.
We need your votes, so come support your favorite music

Songs we'll be playing include a.o.:
Awakening - Jefferson Starship
The Great Escape - Marillion
Failsafe - IQ
Conceiving You - Riverside
Surrounded - Dream Theater
Even Less - Porcupine Tree
Hope to see you there,

Antal

Hi all,

I thought I'd give a bit more info on this competition since it wasn't quite clear on another forum. I guess I hoped giving the relevant sites at the bottom of the post would be enough...
So, here we go....

The Dommelsch Clash of the Coverbands is an annual competition for coverbands throughout the Netherlands. It has been going on since 2003 I think, with preliminary rounds in different regions of NL. It's quite high profile with sponsors such as Dommelsch beer, Koch musical instruments, Paradiso venue Amsterdam and more.
The bands are judged by a jury consisting of record producers, talent agency bosses, musicians and the like.
Every round one band chosen by the jury goes through to the next and one band chosen by the audience (through voting on the night of the gig)

The rounds take pace at increasingly large venues, like 013, Tivoli, De Effenaar and finally for the finals and semi-finals Paradiso in Amsterdam.

From the following round onwards every show will be recorded and a single will be made for each band with airplay on City FM Classic radio. And also broadcast on regional commercial TV stations, like TV Gelderland. Every band will be coached by producer John van de Borne to better their performance and get as good a result as possible.

We got through to the next round saturday, getting the jury vote. So we'll be playing in the regional finals on 29 September again at the same venue in Silvolde.

Silvolde is in the "Achterhoek" region of the Netherlands, just below Doetinchem. And "'t Pakhuus" is a small venue (I would estimate about 300 people max), but with a fairly large stage and professional sound and lighting equipment.

You can find more information about the competition here www.dommelschclash.nl
My band's website here www.awakeningband.nl
Venue 't Pakhuus site here (not much info unfortunately, but is has the address!) http://www.silvoldewisch.com/pakhuus.htm

I hope this gives a little more insight. And sorry again for the confusion.

So..... we hope to see you at 't Pakhuus in September for the regional finals as we can probably use every vote we can get if we fail to impress the jury with our "unusual" music.

And.... thanks for reading all the way down here
