Because lute is a boring instrument. Sure, it can be of good use here and there, but a whole album of it... argh!. I have several guitar only albums; gifts mostly, and I have to say: BOOOORING!!!. I guess one has to be really a monomaniac to enjoy such a thing.

Yes. Go outside and take it. Be careful though; if your neighbours catch you, you might end up somewhere else, no trash, and with a colourful prescription.

I suggest you to give a listen to Manuel Göttsching's Inventions for Electric Guitar and Mike Oldfield's Guitars before you make such a generalization

Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!)
