I'm not a vegetarian, but my kids are, since last New Year's day.

I can't seem to conquer my craving for meat (plus, I am having an ongoing, long-term love affair with my barbeque -- there's something so elementally appealing, so positively primeval about cooking meat over flame), but I do therefore eat a lot of vegetarian food.

I can enjoy any food, no matter the content, as long as it's: (a) Tasty & (b) Plentiful.Pig

(BTW, my wife is a nurse, so she ensures that the kids get adequate protein/nutrition from their new diet.)

I am proud of my children for taking an often difficult stand on something they believe in, at such young ages (13 & 10). ClapThey switched to vegetarianism mainly for moral/ethical reasons, but are also aware of the health benefits.

Vegetarian eating is cheaper overall, too! Big%20smile

I am a vegetarian in second degree: I eat Cows, and cows eat only grass. Same thing with other species.

LOL You're nuts, so you can eat yourself and still claim to be a vegetarian.

Have to add that today I almost became vegetarian. A guy over here was convicted to psychiatric treatment. He murdered his friend, cut him to pieces and stir fried the meat. He's a Chinese immigrant, claiming to be paying the price for a mistake in a past life. He'll have something to correct in his next life as well I guess...

I find it humorous that you list "meat eating" as a vice similar to "smoking" and "drinking". I don't smoke or drink and I pump in the gym everyday for two hours. But I eat meat like a warrior. The benefits include greater muscle mass, strength, raging boners and less body fat.

Oh, and thanks to our eating meat we're far higher on the foodchain. It's what seperates us from our plant eating brethren.

I am not vegetarian but believe in everything in moderation. We humans are omnivores and have developed to to use the nutrients in meat. Granted we eat too much of it these days due to its easy availability.

Mind you I do get a bit narked about veggies. If I invite a veggie to a meal I either have to make a special meal for them or go veggie myself. If you go to a veggie for a meal you normally have to eat what they do.

I know a few veggies who drink milk (usually cows). Obviously casting a blind eye to the fact that for a cow to produce milk it has to have a calf - which ends up as veal.

Being a vegetarian has little to do with your figure. Your body composition is directly related to your daily activities, calorie consumption and genetics. I know vegetarians who soft fat cream puffs. I eat at least 200 grams of protein a day (at least 100 grams from meat) and I am cut to the bone. Show me a vegetarian bodybuilder and maybe I'll reconsider this trendy lifestyle.

I don't understand the vegan apporach. No diary? If cow isn't milked she gets sick.

I knew a vegan who got all uptight that I eat meat and asked if I would shoot a cow for the burger I was eating. I said "Of course not, I'd beat it with a bat because it would tenderize the meat and save me some time down the road." I though it was funny, but he didn't laugh.

Erm, no they don't, that is a falacy - if a cow isn't milked it dries up. It is a natural defence after loosing a calf.
What?

Either way, it doesn't harm the cow.  There isn't really any moral reason why you shouldn't drink the milk.

You could do it, but you'd have to pound protein shakes like no other. That's basically all you need that a vegetarian wouldn't have.

This is crap. If your stomach is meant to digest it, you are supposed to eat it. I don't see any tigers fighting against their feeding needs. That's enough for me.
