Extreme good review, Erik!!! Tanks to andrea Cortese I discovered the New Italian Prog. And the bands of New italian Prog are very innovative!!!

Goblin is a good band but not one of my preferred. I have a good compilation
that I advise to all those that they want to discover the "Goblin World":

GOBLIN

The Fantastic Voyage Of Goblin

(Boxset/Compilation, 2007)
Limmagine%20“http://www.progarchives.com/progressive_rock_discography_covers/130/cover_115141532007.jpg”%20non%20può%20essere%20visualizzata%20poiché%20contiene%20degli%20errori.

Track Listings

1. Mad Puppet's Laughs (from "Profondo Rosso" 1975)
2. Profondo Rosso (from "Profondo Rosso" 1975)
3. School At Night (Lullaby-Music box) (from "Profondo Rosso" 1975)

6. Suspiria (from "Suspiria" 1977)
7. Witch (from "Suspiria" 1977)
8. Sighs (from "Suspiria" 1977)
9. Le Cascate Di Virdiana (from "Il Fantastico Viaggio Del Bagarozzo Mark" 1978)
10. Safari (from "Zombi/ Dawn Of The Dead" 1978)
11. L'Alba Dei Morti Viventi (from "Zombi/ Dawn Of The Dead" 1978)
12. Snip-Snap (from "Patrik" 1979)
13. Sicilian samba (from "Squadra Antigangster" 1979)
14. Connexion (from "Contamination" 1980)
15. Flashing (Film Version) (from "Tenebre" 1982)
16. Gemini (from "Tenebre" 1982)
17. Jennifer's Friends (from "Phenomena" 1984)
18. La Chiesa (from "La Chiesa" 1989)
19. Quiet Drop (from "Buio Omega" 1997)

Line-up/Musicians

- All Goblin line up

Releases information

Bella Casa in association with Cherry Red Records Ltd. CASA1CD (2007)
(All tracks licensed courtesy Cinevox Records srl)

And, to conclude the replies to the previous post, ...Yes, PFM's "Stati Di Immaginazione" is a masterpiece but the 70's PFM's album are more magic. And this is the sole difference!!!

Erik:

well done with your review. And also for the one you posted for La Torre dell'Alchimista's debut!Clap

Which is in your opinion the best italian record from 2007 until now...Notabene or La Torre dell'Alchimista or The Watch...or...?

Wishbone Ash:

Goblin are an excellent band. If you want to discover their roots (and if you like Yes), then you should pick Cherry Five eponimous debut (pre-Goblin).Wink

vicZeppelin:

Stati di Immaginazione is the best album of 2006 along with LuxAde by La Maschera di Cera.

One of the best from the PFM's cathalogue. I put it at the same level of Per un Amico or L'Isola di Niente. It's not a case that it has been voted as the second best record for year 2006 in PA.Clap

Mandy:

Thanks for tickets (let's hope tickets are still available...).Smile

Andrea, my 2007 Italian favorite until now is the new La Torre Dell'Alchimista

Mandrakeroot, I am looking forward to the new New Trolls, my favorite is Searching For A Land

Check out, fellow Italian progheads: www.naturalmystic.org

Btf. info: What a debut CD !!! We regret that we did not have the chance to directly produce this fantastic new band from Milan. The Natural Mystic's debut CD has four long suites dealing with seasons. Musically it is a blend of King Crimson, Jethro Tull but keeping a classic medieval and mediterranean touch too. Outstanding drumming and nice vocals. Exclusive BTF distribution!

Mandy and Guillermo: I've added Epica and Natural Mystic to the suggestions' list in the ISP/RPI team thread. I will order Natural Mystic and hope to receive very soon. I'm still waiting for my copy of Conqueror's 74 Giorni.

On about NCCP: the band has been rejected from the folk-prog team (Hugues) 'cause they do not see out what is prog or rock in their discography.

I must confess it's a serious matter due to the strong folk roots of their music which appears not so much rocky but, anyway, is builded up revisiting the ancient folk tradition of Neaples in a modern and eclectic way...:

From italianprog.it:

"Folk music has never been very popular in Italy, probably due to the strong differences between the music traditions of the 20 italian regions, and it's never been as commercially successful as it was with Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare.
Though the progressive rock fans will find NCCP's inclusion here out of place, the group surely deserves a mention for their passionate search of old folk tunes, rearranged and reworked with a modern feel, and in this sense can be considered an example of progressive music
.

Formed in Naples around 1967 by composer Roberto De Simone, that never was an active member but rather a sort of inspirer and executive producer, the group released their first LP in 1971 on the small Rare label. Their music, since their beginnings, was strongly based on reworkings of traditional tunes from Naples and its region Campania, with multivocal parts and acoustic guitars, flutes, percussion and all sorts of ancient popular instruments.

A second album, a double one, came in 1972 with new member Nunzio Areni and in the same vein as the previous one, but a little more elaborate from the musical point of view, but success and interest came with the third album, recorded live, and again simply titled with the name of the group.
The band had an intense live activity all over Italy and reached a great, unexpected success with their fourth album, Li sarracini adorano lu sole, and a single taken from it, Tammurriata nera. This song was a late 40's post-war popular song, an exception in the group's repertoire compared to their 16th and 17th century usual tunes.

Following their success, Ricordi reissued in 1975 their first two albums, now spanned over three LP's and with different titles and covers.

In 1976 the folk opera La gatta Cenerentola, represented in many italian theatres, was again very successful, and the band has kept playing until now, with concerts in every part of the world, and still based on the leading figure of female singer Fausta Vetere.

Long time member Eugenio Bennato left the band in 1976 to form a similar band, Musicanova, along with Carlo D'Angiò, also in the first album line-up".

The question is: does NCCP is worth of inclusion in RPI?

Other new  bands from Mellow records:

1) Obscura is a band produced by the guitarist of MOONGARDEN and SUBMARINE SILENCE presents a music in neo-progressive mellotronic style with some hard
rock influences here and there. The album is titled "Le Città Invisibili".

2) Tenmidnight with their album Run.

 (coming soon)

For NCCP question: To my warning yes.  Considering, nevertheless, the importance put on in the Italian scene (also prog) of the 70's.

Nevertheless I don't believe that it is fundamental in a site so...  Little  show at favor to include certain shapes of Prog... We say so...  Local!!!

However, for like I see it, it is a serious loss for the completeness and without certain groups the ISP/ RPI will be always maimed!!!

Another good band is notturna from Trieste (Italy): www.notturna.net . the site is in Italian. In the multimedia section is present a Mp3 section with good samplers and video section.

The style is an Hard Rock Prog in the vein of Asia (described like Prog Metal).

The first albumLimmagine%20“http://www.notturna.net/disco/copertinaNott.jpg”%20non%20può%20essere%20visualizzata%20poiché%20contiene%20degli%20errori. is good but the secondLimmagine%20“http://www.notturna.net/disco/Cop_OK.jpg”%20non%20può%20essere%20visualizzata%20poiché%20contiene%20degli%20errori. is more Prog.

In any case a very good band!!!

Discography:
