i've been a vegetarian for 3+ years now and wondered if any of you were 'like-minded'. It seems to me like i'm a rare breed...don't drink, don't smoke, or eat meat! I aint no hippy either...damn hippies...also, it seems like women are more likely than men to be vegetarian. is this true? I'm a 19 years young guy personally. Seems like all the veggies i've known were girls.

calling all vegetarian brethren!
for those about to prog, we salute you.

Sorry to bump in with my meat-eating arse, but I'd like to say something perhaps

I was thinking of vegetarism. Most vegetarists that I know don't eat meat because of the taste. The rest are more ideological, and hate the butcherin and raising animals in tight cages. I have this friend who didn't appreciate all that, but stopped eating meat because a vegetable diet made her feel a lot healthier.

Well as said, I wouldn't know about that. It's awful how expensive fruits and vegetables are in Finland. I couldn't be a vegetarian even if I wanted to, I just couldn't afford it. Also I personally find the taste of meat good

Anyway, I know there are people who make it a religion, and that annoys me a bit, as I feel attacked at times. But it's so common nowadays, especially among women, that I ask everyone if the eat meat or not. There's always someone who doesn't, so I'll prepare a vege-dish.

Then there's the vegan thing too, right? I can't remember which is which though

I can admit that I remember liking the taste of it. My vegetariansim has nothing to do with health or taste. I'm not militant about it either...that would be childish. I simply have personal moral ideologies which motivate me to continue my vegetarianism. I'm not vegan either. I consider that to be a step too far as it is almost implossible not to consume any dairy at all. However, the only leather I use is on my guitar strap and call phone case. I'm slightly annoyed at people who become vegetarian simply for diet reasons...it's suppossed to be about more than that, for me anyway.

My thoughts exactlyClap

I'm 19(and a half) and have been vegeterian since i was born. I went through a stage in high school when i started to eat meat but i'm choosing to blame peer-pressure for that. I am now a vegeterian once again, and i'm proud to be one.
And no i'm no vegan, i couldn't survive without scrambled eggs! or cheese! I love cheese!
For me, if it once walked, crawled, burrowed, flew or whatever, i won't go near it.

Most vegetarians I've met are Food Nazis.

Sorry, but I can't live without a nice, juicy burger or a delicious rack of ribs. I believe humans were meant to be meat-eaters, I read somewhere that veggies are good for you and all, but prolonged periods without the nutrients from meats can shorten your lifespan or something like that. Dunno if it is true or not...

No, I love to eat meat. But everything in moderation, though.

I would like to become a vegetarian, but I'm waiting until bacon and steak are reclassified as vegetables.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Hey Doc!!!  Great to see you back! The place just hasn't been the same without you....now just don't go spoiling things by upsetting any of those hyper-sensitive Canadian academic types.....Wink

anyway, YES, I am both vegetarian and Jewish, which means that the average life expectancy of the humble pig is slightly longer round these parts...Big%20smile

Here we go again. I've made my opinions on this matter clear many times before. Yes, I am a vegetarian, and it is because of my compassion for all animals.
