My thanks to Fred Bruinenberg for passing on this Myspace bulletin from Porcupine Tree's Gavin Harrison regarding his forthcoming solo album. 

"Hello folks,
Just a quick update to say all the tracks have been recorded for the album and we are looking at an August release. We also have the honor/privilege of having Robert Fripp accompany us on some of the tracks. All and all an exciting time around here."

Bump.

I downloaded Gavin's solo album "Sanity and Gravity" last night from eMusic.  1st impression was that this was really good.  It appears that it also has PT Keyboardist Barbieri, Mick Karn, Dave Stewart, and Jakko Jakszyk all playing on some of the songs. 
 
Has the new solo been released yet?

Yep - just been playing it by strange co-incidence. Some very nice Extended Bass by 05ric - guest bits by Mr Fripp, Dave Stewart and Gary Sanctuary. Sounds not a million miles away from no-man.

Now received a promo of the album and take Sid Smith's word for it , it's good. However, half way through, what strikes me is that while the jazz-fusion aspects are there, I have a really have a sense of 90's Krimson in places, but more of that recent music David Sylvian has created, which slips across boundaries with some effortlessmness.

I don't believe you would immediately associate the music here with P Tree (or the Nolan Sisters, if come to that).


Would agree - not a lot of PT in there (at least from what I have heard) but definitely some nice jazz-fusion parts.
