Ah man I love Minnemann! I mean he can be a bit too much, but he's a crazy lunatic in a good way of course.

He's the drummer for Hella, and he's amazing.

In a good way, I would say he is more over the top than nearly any other drummer.

Oh I've heard Hella before! I didn't like the actual music too much the first time around but I'm willing to take a closer listen. And yes, the drummer is good.

Having heard one album from both incarnations of the band I don't think it looks that bad. It sure is a bit more restrained, but the new album is quite good.

Either way they're awesome.Tongue

Yeah they are

but I really loved the unrestrained aspect. I just hope it doesnt start to sound more like other Zach Hill projects like Holy Smokes, The Ladies, etc, etc. (even though these are very good, old two piece Hella holds the title of my favorite. Maybe their later efforts will change my mind...and I hope so)

Christian Vander played over (Janik) Top for a large fraction of his career with Magma.

I see what you mean there. The Ladies sometimes sounds like one of those "indie" bands (albeit a really comlpex one). I surely wouldn't like Hella to take that direction either.

Speaking of Zach Hill, I was scared when I listened to Crime in Choir! I've never thought to hear Zach Hill play in such a normal way! I missed his personality (and playing) in that band.

^^^ Are there any streamable songs here in PA or even myspace where I can listen to Mr. Donati?  I've heard his name several times before like in Planet X, but haven't heard it yet.
