1%20stars To me.......This is where Genesis really started to get good....Ditch Gabriel......Ditch Hackett........Ditch Collins......We don't need them here.....Every single song is amazing......The first note of Calling All Stations, to me, really outdid their entire previous catalogue. I love it....In fact.... I'm sure if this CD could talk to me.....She'd say she loves me too.... Maybe we would get married? Oh well......LOVE IT!!

5%20stars 2 discs!?!..........I almost gave up on this album as soon as I heard that terrible piano intro.but then......It struck me at the end......Silent Sorrow In Empty Boats!!!! BEST-SONG-EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I must have played that songs 153 times the first day i heard it.....Nice and short, but not too short.....Let's just say i dont exactly LOVE this album......Only that song......The rest I think is pretty much disposable....In fact......I did toss that first disc......There's no use for that one....Enjoy your SONG!

5%20stars OK.....I don't get it.....Why are some of these songs so long? There are 4 songs that are over 8 minutes....Is this some kind of trick? I am usually a fan of 3 minute rock anthems. Another thing.....What in the world do these songs mean....It's like they put some random words together to make a song....Nothing compared to Invisible Touch.....This album, however, get 5 stars for the songs "MORE FOOL ME"......Otherwise, I'm sorry Genesis, you need to gett it together and do this one again.....

5%20stars I HATE This album!! Every song is perfect!! Makes me soooo jelous. Why cant i make an album like this? I'm said to have a better voice than peter gabriel, drum better than phil collins, and play better than tony or steve hackett. So why can't i get a record label?? Thats exaclty why i hate this world. AND.... Why isnt my band on this website? ITS PROG! You cant go 5 seconds on it without the tempo changing! HELP ME JESUS

Somebody please do something about this blatantly sarcastic approach at making a poor review.

Can you have all of your reviews deleted?
I am unhappy with all of my reviews. Most of them are based on what i've heard of the album (mostly just 1-3 songs).

Please answer

The Tool review probably does not merit deletion, as immature as the writing is.

However, look at his Systematic Chaos review:

DREAM THEATER — Systematic Chaos
Review by slaver (dave)

5%20stars Well, I've been reading the reviews and now have to add my 10 cents worth. Before I go any further my rating for this and all other Dream Theater albums is 5 stars excepting for the very first album which I rate at 3 stars. My reason for the high ratings is simple. There are no other instumentalists in the rock world, or probably any other worlds, who can play their intruments like these guys can. I love technical music. Every one of Dream Theater's albums is a classic to me. I read reviews where fans are disgruntled about this or that with each album release and my advice is "just listen to the music guys and appreciate it for what it is". Dream Theater is a springboard for the members to show off ther skills and technical prowess. If you got it flaunt it To hear an album where these guys don't play at their peak potential would disappoint me. So what if it's "showy". With each album I want to know that Petrucci is still the best, that no one can out drum Portnoy, that no one can out base Myung. They are the best so just accept that and listen to the skill and the complexity of the track structures. How anyone can rate Tool 5 stars and this any less is beyond me. They do do a lot of imitations and cover bootleg albums - because they can. They do imitate Metallica here on one track, because they can. It s doubtfull that Metallica could imitate Dream Theater in full flight. Don't compare DT to Dt, compare them to the other artists out there.

This review says nothing about the specific album, with the very minor exception of the Metallica comment, and IMHO should be deleted.

^^ OK, I understand what you're saying about the use of "meaningless".  That makes sense.

I still believe calling parts "dumb" and "drivel" is still rather insulting.  That's how I interpret it anyway (can calling something dumb be interpreted differently? Confused).

And I still believe the last statement in the review is absolutely ridiculous.  Again, if it isn't music, then what is it?

(I knew I should have put this in the review discussions...)

1%20stars So to my review of an album most seem to regard as a classic.

On first listen I hated it in that I found no melody whatsoever, just a lot of anger that sounded like Creed or any number of Grunge rock bands on speed. To the tracks - 1. The Grudge - Grunge for psycho's. Not bad 2. Eon Blue Apocalypse - A meaningless intro to the next track, the Patient 3. The Patient - Sounds like Creed or Nirvana hungover. Repetitive nonsense. 4. Mantra - A ghost with a sore tummy? 5. Schism - Repetitive but not bad in a hypnotic way. 6. Parabol - Meaningless Drivel leading into next track. 7. Parabola - Nirvana' s collective bad dream. 8. Ticks and Leeches - Starts of like a bad drum solo with dumb lead kicking in. Then tries to become some sort of Thrash, Death Metal thing. 9. Lateralus - Starts off trying to hypnotise me with a lead guitar then bores me with full on repetition that just gets more noisy. 10. Disposition - Nursery rhyme for the guitar. 11. Reflection - Another dumb drum, bass thingy. Glad I can't see my bored looking reflection in a mirror. 12. Triad - Just noise. 13. Faaip De Oiad - Yep and Faaip this band too.

I've heard better stuff coming out of a bunch of 14 year olds with instruments coming out of a garage. When Tool grow up they want to be Korn.

Sorry guys but this is not music.

________________________________________________________________

Now, I am a big Tool fan (not a fanboy), but to me, I genuinely believe this is an insulting review, especially the highlighted portions.  It wouldn't be so bad if the reviewer wasn't insulting the band.   And how could he say "this is not music"?  What else would it be? Confused

Maybe this could use some editing?

I have to protest against this protest...Confused....Saying "meaningless" is not insulting nor offensive, it's just what the reviewer thinks of a particular section in a song. If everything was "meaningful", then everything would click, thus everything would have to be liked by the person. When one's saying "meaningless" one is really saying "this doesn't mean anything to me, it's misplaced, I can't see the point of it" .

The next-to last paragraph is a little bit offensive, or is it really? Is his opinion that 14 years old could be playing better music than Tool... I would disagree but, then again, what if those 14 year old were all genius? Big%20smile.... He could've picked better ways of saying this, but I don't see the insult.

"Sorry guys but this is not music"... Well, as incredibly wrong as this statement is (even RAP is music, and Tool is music, and at times even good music), is the reviewer's opinion. If he had said "sorry guys, but whoever likes this is an idiot because this is not music", then we would have insults and the need for editing...Maybe the "sorry guys" part makes the whole phrase sound slightly arrogant, what if he'd said "in my opinion, this is not music" ? Nobody would have argued with that.

5%20stars ‘If your looking for safe, critic-approved, politically correct pop music enlightenment’ ….f**k off. Carl Palmer could not have but it better (expect for that last bit which I put in to make it sound better).

Before this Album the only ELP song I had heard was 'I believe in Father Christmas’. I just thought they were an ordinary pop band. But boy was I wrong. I can clearly remember hearing ‘Toccata’ for the first time and it still as sounds as fresh as it did the timing hearing it as does the rest of the Album. This album still sands shivers up my spine. Not else much to say other than jaw dropping, bombastic brilliance In my opinion along with KC ‘Red’ and Yes “Close to the edge” these are the defining albums of the genre.

ELP broke every rule with this album. In the end isn’t that what Prog rock is?

I know, it's just really short, barely over 50 words.  But then again, that does meet the requirement, so it could stay.

But it's pathetic that a grown man tries to modify a chart in a Prog site where nobody ever cared for the top songs. LOL

That doesn't explain the changes in the top # one album these past months. When I forst started reading this site, the top 5 seemed pretty static, now it's a 3 way toss up. I do agree with you , as to who could care that much...

    Posted: May 02 2005 at 19:16

If I got it right, the technick of making this list is to time the amount of ratings in the avarage rate to get the popularity of an album. This is not a bad idea and the list is not surprising. But .........

I think you need to do another list of highly rated albums (let's say of at least 9 ratings so not any unknown with 1 or 2 ratings will skip in, but talk talk's "spirit of eden" that is the highest rated album I've seen here, will be included). In this list will be the albums accordings to their avarage rates only, which will make a whole different list and I guess - a wider range of music.

Taking talk talk as a good example I claim that most of us are familiar with the 1970 - 1977 english prog music who created the genre & dominates it (with good reasons). However there are some great music made later or elsewhere that we are less familiar with. Like I happen to know talk talk, some others know another great band and it will be easy to search for good music we do not know through such a list (cause you need only few excelent ratings to be on this list).

It will also be interesting to see what albums will be on both lists (and to see that dream theatre is much less important then it seems from the existing list).

What do you say ?
