Hi Zbigniew, good to see you on the forum!
Well, it's not particularly easy to find new prog bands in record stores. It depends on the place you have the luck to visit... and also some from the old scene are difficult to find. Fortunately BTF and other small labels are reissuing many albums so do not lose hope!!!
BTW, I've just added the album Neo, the latest work of La Torre dell'Alchimista!!

How about this new italian prog band named Gecko's Tear?
From BTF:
Great new promising italian progressive band, coming from Naples !!! Gecko's Tear formed in 1999, then won first prize at the Demetrio Stratos festival organized by the Movimenti Prog website, then opened for Isildurs Bane and Arti & Mestieri during a recent tour, then... they released "Contradiction", a very interesting debut CD, sounding somehow close to Yes and Rush, but also Genesis and King Crimson, and ELP too. Gecko's Tear music is prog mixed with jazz-rock mixed with RIO.
"Contradiction" is made of rich compositions and unusual tracks, with plenty of precious clues. Singer Claudio Mirone is the leader of this new band, with lyrics and vocals in english.
Enter the site for samples..!
What a wonderful band!!

Have listened to some samples (Agartha, Suite, Bourgeois) and they are quite good. Judging from them they deserve more to be here than some prog metal acts |

yet you still have time!

Has anyone seen the Area DVD called "Area TV Appearances". I love Area to bits, and so I'm wondering what sort of DVD it is. Any info on this would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Greg Walker of Syn-phonic stocks it. I've just ordered it, but I'm keen to know what it contains. I'm hoping it contains stellar performances of their best Stratos-inspired material.
I can't say enough about this band. They're fantastic!

Gecko's Tear are an accomplished and talented band, I love Contradiction.
I have contacted them asking for an interview and we were supposed to tak over the phone, but due to personal constraints and obligations on my side I could not make it (and we are on different continents for now) so I sent them the questions by email, and I hope they'll get back to me soon. They just finished touring in Germany and Poland.
